Have a question?
It's indeed taking us longer than we expected but we haven't decided yet by how much we'll shift the release date, which is why we didn't communicate anything official yet (because otherwise we run the risk of having to shift the date again if it turns out our estimate is wrong).
Development is racing ahead very fast for the moment and we want to assess where we are at the end of the month and where we think we'll be a month from now. A lot of the feedback we've been getting will be integrated by then and then it'll be a question of how much time it'll take us to finish up.
Some things which you suspect may take a lot of time take very little time to develop, but in the same breath it's also true that some things which you expect to take little time, actually take a lot of time.
In any case you're right, we should have communicated more clearly in the last update - it was there, but not explicit enough. But trust me when I say that any delay there is, is there because we're aiming high with D:OS.
what gets me is people upset and complaining....lets look at the flip of the coin now...the game releases with less content, buggy as hell, not enjoyable at all and we don't get a classic game from larian studios that we all know that they can make awesome....peeps stop being like the publisher's and trying to push the developers into releasing a garbage game to us cause you have no patience at all....that totally gets on my last nerve...lets the devs create a masterpiece no matter how long it takes....please stop the nonsense
Uber.. There is a difference between suspecting a delay, and being told.. and we were only informed of the Feb delay.
However on a side note.. once Larian had realised that they had had to let the cat out of the bag, so to speak, there was nothing stopping them from coming straight here to inform us of the situation.. I don't appreciate that lack of foresight, I do realise and fully accept it's a busy time, but there are still certain obligations to live up to regardless.
But again, I don't hold Larian up as a sole offender.
A particular logic isn't relevant here... we ARE classed as investors/backers, that's not an issue. You might not agreed with the definition, and I don't either, but that's the way of things... and it's not me doing the defining.
Well, Blackguards CE installation (especially the middle third or so) took ridiculously long, but here we go. ^^
The delay is not news. We knew this for a while. Given the state of the alpha, I would be surprised/worried if they released soon.
Has anybody tried Blackguards? Is it any good? I just saw it on gog.
well in general i'm more than happy with the communication from Larian, it is much better than most of the others kickstarters i backed. Also they are always very friendly and this is the first time i'm a bit disappointed with them :)
But let's just see what they will tell us in the next update, which i'm sure won't be a long time in coming.
The problem with that attitude is that we have already paid; there is no leverage. The investor analogy completely fails because we do not have a binding vote in this company. On the positive side they realize they would be late and have provided everyone alpha keys (which is more than most kickstarts have done).
This is not to say I disagree with you; i.e, i wish they did a better job communicating; i just disagree with your logic.
My comment doesn't jst apply at Larian.
Fair enough Flump... but if we don't at least tell them that this kind of thing isn't appreciated, by some of us at least.. then this kind of excuse might become habit.
If we are investors/backers then I'd like to be given the same consideration as backers/investors under the original model and in return, from me, they'll get leniency and understanding, but if we don't get that consideration then effectively we ARE just customers buying a pre-order.. and under those circumstances I'd have every right to say "Get your finger out, the game is late and I've already paid for it. WAAAAAAAAA!!"
I would cut them a bit of slack here; from reading the comment it almost sounds like they reached out to Larian and asked if there would be a delay; and he was er 'forced' to admit they would not make the current date.
That's the link, where it is mentioned.
I don't have a problem with the delay, but I'm also disappointed that a gaming-page gets informed before the backers :(
Okay, I had no intention of backing any more projects, but this film is so hilariously cheesy that I couldn't resist. Search Kickstarter for Kung Fury. It's a throwback to the 80's (even has a Nintendo Powerglove in the movie). Some people online are dubbing it Farcry 3: Blood Dragon: The Movie, which really isn't too far off. Nazi's, Vikings, dinosaurs and even a Delorean. Gotta love it. :D
In my case it is not a great problem, I get too much to do in the last months and I still accept the delay if we can get a better game in exchange. I can see that they really work hard on it and so it's ok for me now.
However I wonder if they can give the editor earlier than summer. ;-)
However I think the real point is, if it IS true, they why weren't WE told first. That DOES take the wind out of my sails.
I could accept summer, they haven't even done Beta yet. They really are pushing the boat out as far as extra content and better design goes, compared to what the thought they would have to delivery, not sure how I'd feel about longer than that though.. I'd accept it, but it would be grudgingly.
Got a program thats starts when i turn on PC called Larian Studios and is messing with my graphic driver. Could be from ether DC or D:OS. Tried uninstalling both but its still there?
Hum. I guess you're in europe; in usa a replacement dvd drive would only cost $12. Almost cheaper than the disks themselves....
Thankfully Blackguards CE's install disk turned out to be one of those my screwed up disk drive can actually read after a couple of tries - just like the 1st disk of Memoria's but annoyingly not the 2nd. Was pretty worried here for a minute or ten.
Both installing the game and downloading the 1.1 patch right now.
Hum. Summer ? four month delay ?
@EndreX yes, I think it is : we are right now only in 'alpha stage" with ONE update of the build ...
In one month, I'm not sure we gonna get the beta ...
So, Summer seems to be the day.
I just read on gamestar.de that Sven told them that they won't release the full game in February, but in summer. You think this is true?
Everyone should have access to the alpha. You need to register your KS e-mail on your Larianvault.com account, and then claim the alpha access Steam code.
Hi, for those of us who pledge 25$ or more, do we also have access to Steam Early Access?
What about steam keys for early-access?
Never know; years ago when I was a kid me and a friend dug a rather nice deep hole. I think we found 2 or 3 pennies; but now that I'm older and wiser I think they were planted by my friend's father...
wish I could dig in my backyard and find some loot for real...lol
I could use some loot.
@Grinsevent ....yeah that's about where I stopped..after digging up the orc warriors and collecting some loot...lol
wtf ... 84% for kingdom blabla ... Amazing isn't it ?
@bloodraven me too, but a little less than that (and YES, I did dig the corpses niark niark)
I didn't play enough MP yet, I need to try it more in depth but have no time to do it... :(
I wish it were warmer.
@Grinsevent ....so far what I played...the game is going to be awesome...I only played the first 2 hrs...over and over again cause I don't want to ruin the experience of the full game for myself
I didn't want to break this 69,666 but hey, the next one with as many 6 gonna be 76,666
I know they won't rush it... And hope there gonna be awesome content we will know in the right time
as long as larian doesn't rush this game to the market...like I keep saying...im a patient man...lol
but I agree awesome and amazing would sum this game up in a nutshell...this game will be a classic for many gamers to enjoy for many decades
lol...since im the creator of that slogan...id figured id change it up a bit....lmfao
Awsome, Bloodraven, awsome. Not Amazing.
it is going to be the best... THIS GAME IS GOING TO BE AMAZING ....hell yeah
@Stefan, Regnox I don't complain, I just have an HONEST laugh .
I love larian (ok, this may be overrated), and hope to play THEIR game, as THEY think it's the best !
well if I'm not mistaken they said they weren't even convinced that they'd reach 400k so let's not even get started on 1m :) happy that they got thismuch though
@ Grinsevent, That was if they didn't have to do $600.000 of stretched goals. :p I don't think Larian expected to get this far.
Hey, I just get a joke : D:OS estimate delivery "Nov 2013"
Am I the only one who laugh ?
(I don't say it's terrible, just funny)
On the other way, I'm not sure Kingdom will be great, or any other. I'm waiting to see the kickstarters completed before I make a choice. Too many people have been disapointed in the past year on Kickstarters video game projects (Shadowrun return ... ) and ... What kind of game will it be ? Still waiting
I had no choice but to back kingdom come. It looks amazing! LC gave me the link and I was amazed by it.
Paypal is usually available as soon as the basic goal is met. :)
Just came here to raise the awareness of Kingdom Come, seems like I'm too late :D
While I'm tempted to back Kingdom Come, I can't. Because it's not in US dollars, my bank would block it as an overseas transaction. Maybe if they open up Paypal, I might be able to. I'll have to see what my financial situation is, closer to the end of their campaign.
@Jason Gallagher Act1 seems to be a stand alone game while Act2 is a planned expansion. Might back it next month myself, though this months kickstarter is Unsung Story for me ^^
Kingdom Come looks astonishingly good. That's just the stuff we were all missing, FFS, 4 layers of clothing and armor in 16 equippable slots!!
Already a number of fellow weresheep there 8D
