Kickstarter Update #44 - We’re alllllllllllllmost there!

The fighter, exhausted, hauls himself to the final step of the cavern. Turning and holding his torch aloft, he looks back at the chaos behind him.

He looks out over the labyrinth he's passed through - at every dead end he went down, and every pitfall he avoided (or muscled through). At the horde of dead bugs. At the monsters that whispered in code. At the end of it all, he looks out and sees more than two years of toil and adventure.

But more than that, he sees two years of exploits with friends, old and new. Of found family. Of bonds forged in fire.

He holds his torch to the heavens and, in triumph - his torch goes out.

Fate chuckles as the fighter looks at the embers in disbelief. "You didn't think I was finished, did you? You didn't think it would be that easy?"

The fighter spins, drawing his sword. There's always one more monster to slay…

"One voice, alone in the darkness," Fate hisses. "You cannot hope to overcome."

Now it's the fighter's turn to chuckle as, in the distance, a flicker of light appears. Another light twinkles, this one closer. More and more lights appear, until 42,700 torches flare to life, bathing the room in blinding light.

"I was never alone," the fighter grins.

Drawing his sword he turns to the horde and roars -

Welcome to the release of Divinity: Original Sin 2!

It's been a long time coming, and the road here has been exhilarating, exhausting, and unexpected for all of us. And it wouldn't be a Larian adventure if Fate hadn't just thrown one last twist our way. We'll let Swen explain...

Translations postponed one week

We set ourselves some incredibly ambitious targets for this game, and while we cleared most of those hurdles, there is one area where we unfortunately had some issues.

We’d hoped to launch the game in English, German, French and Russian, and we’ve been working for months towards this goal, but we hit some unexpected problems at the eleventh hour.

After a lot of discussion and heartache we decided that, rather than release the game with some disappointing translations in there, we would take an extra week to make sure that the translations were as complete and well-implemented as they could be, rather than launch the game and give you an experience that we weren’t satisfied with.

This wasn’t a decision we made lightly - we know how much some of you have been looking forward to playing the game in your native languages - but we hope you’ll enjoy it so much more when the complete Russian, German and French translations are released on the 21st September.

Collector’s Editions

Our Collector’s Editions are all boxed up and parcelled out now. Depending on the postal service in your country, you should receive yours either today, tomorrow or early next week. The hoodies (as you can see Swen modelling in the above video!) are currently having a very short holiday in customs, so will be with you as soon as bureaucratically possible!

If you are one of the folks who didn’t give us your address for your Collector’s Edition - we need your address to send it to you! Go to https://www.larianvault.com/ and input your details so we can send you some postal happiness.

Anyone know anything about the ale mug and ouija board not being in the collector's edition?

@Dmytro Usik for now it's PC only... Mac/Linux version hasn't been announced yet... see also the FAQ.

@LG Unicorn if you have not received ANY email (on your Kickstarter email address) about your package going to be shipped/being shipped, then I recommend contacting Larian support (and then being patient, as they're apparently swamped with support requests).

@joseph I strolla see also my reply ^^ to LG Unicorn. If you DID receive such email, but have not received the physical items yet, then your items are apparently shipped and on their way to you... again, patience is needed. The digital part of your "stuff" can be found on larianvault.com

I forgot to add my address to the Larian account, but corrected it a week ago.
Will I still get my Collectors Edition? I am a little bit worried... :(
      Thanks for the great game.

Thrakker, two days after your last post and my tracking information still hasn't updated.

    11. Thrakker on September 18

Of course I post about 5 hours before the tracking updates. Looks like mine was just received by DHL in Germany so hopefully it shows up here in the US within the next week

Took from 13th to 14th for my package to go from germany to sweden and then today the 18th I got it. Tracking worked all the way though after leaving germany it was done trough the swedish carrier.
Swedish mail service really suck but a nice surprise was the home delivery which I did not expect to be included.
Had of course been pissed if I was not lucky enough to be home at the time because there was no prior notice before my doorbell rang.
Anyway time to go trough the wonderful CE!

      @Thrakker
I had a similar issue... the tracker info on that website wasn't updated until the package was actually scanned in my country, then I saw a whole series of movements from the previous days. That website s*cks. So it's very well possible that your box is moving, you just don't see it yet.

@Everyone who didn't claim their game key yet:

      1. Sign in to your Larianvault account
      2. Click on D:OS2 Kickstarter
      3. If you haven't done so already, link your Kickstarter account to your Larianvault account
      4. Now you should see a subsection with
"Summary", "Manage Addons", "Your Choices & Input", "Product Keys" and "Vote On Polls"
      5. Go to "Your Choices & Input", look up the line for your D:OS2 Digital Download, and specify if you want a Steam or GOG key.
      6. Go to Product Keys, and your key should be there.

    15. Thrakker on September 17

Anyone get a tracking number for the CE shipment almost a week ago (Sept 12) but it still hasn't actually been given to the shipping company by Larian? My last, and only, update from DHL is the following:

      Status From Tue, 12.09.17 17:46 a.m./p.m.
The instruction data for this shipment have been provided by the sender to DHL electronically

    16. Helena on September 17

Slightly belated congratulations on the release! I haven't had a chance to try it yet as I've been on holiday, but I will as soon as possible.

Great work guys! PLEASE do not go away from this engine and turn based system. We have enough ARPG and 1st person Skyrim clones. This is the only decent pen & paper crpg on the market, stay with this in the future with maybe a little less environmental effects :)

Good luck with launch as i think this is game of the year for me. It is great to get a game that is not plagued by day 1 dlc or microtransactions, a game that the debelopers have poured their love and skills into and a company that listens to their customres.
This is a shining example of an amazing company and a fantastic game and cant wait to give money for your next kicksstarter :)

I hope you guys work on a Divinity ARPG next(you already have the epic Original Sin engine) or take on Divinity 3 : The Dragon Knight Saga(go full out Witcher 3 on it)! Which ever one of those or any other projects you work on next I will back you guys and follow you guys. All the best.

      @Johannes
There are several problems with that approach. Although I speak and understand English very well, I need to invest a lot more concentration and focus when playing a game like DOS2 in English. I just need more processing power for my internal translation - and even then there are words and expression I simply don't understand to their full extent. So playing a game like that in English is less fun than in German because all the work and focus that has to go into understanding the text deters from the game itself. I mean, I play games like that to relax. When I'm fully concentrated on my work all day long I don't want to continue with that very same level after work. And when I start the game with English texts now I might miss quite some stuff that may take away from the ongoing entertainment value. Especially if you don't get the settings and basics right you might not be able to fully grasp the whole thing - even if you continue to play the game in your native language later on. And I don't even talk about all the subtle moments that just don't work that way.

@Ziegler: You speak English well enough. Install the English version and play it until the French version comes along. Easy. ( I am German, I'll do the same)

YAY! Now the important question : Did you guys learn enough from the first one to not need a re-release soon after? :p. Cuz I was halfway through the first game when you re-edited the whole game....I still havent seen all the updates yet and I don't think i will now that the second one is out!

    40. Cyco Polo on September 14

Hahaha hard lick guys and girls for power shortage, that made me laugh a lot....i know, i guess you laughed probably a bit less today. Thank you for this wonderful game and i am excited to see the rest of it!!
Ha and the day you make DOS 3... buy bicycles in order to produce electricity ;-p
Enjoy the celebration, drink drink drink! And thanks again

    41. LordCrash on September 14

I don't understand why they delayed the localizations completely. I think most people would have understood it much better if they released them with the message that they're still lacking and that they'd be improved in the upcoming week. That's still much better than having no localization at all.

Very strange decision tbh. And combined with the quite arrogant communication on the topic (aka 2 hours before release as it wouldn't be a big deal for anybody) that's double strange...

    42. Rafael Masoni on September 14

Congratulations! Very excited to start playing, but I'll need a Mac client for that! ;)

Please let us know how that is coming along this time. The last one for EE was amazing and kept me playing for 200h with a friend <3
