Roadkill du Jour #1 (funded on Kickstarter in April, 2013) chronicled the awful plight of a devastated biker afflicted with the curse to eat only that which dies on the road...and to then assume the traits of the very creature which he consumed! This biker, duJour, longed to recover the soul of his lost wife and gain vengeance against the voodoo witch who hexed him and murdered his gang.

THE STORY IN ISSUE #2
In this second chapter, duJour recruits avenging weapons in the forms of NEW misfit members of his Roadkill Motorcycle Club, all the while watched and warded by the witch, Mama Houdoo, and her legion of horrific minions!
Roadkill du Jour is a tale of motorcycle gangs in a mystic bayou world, clashing in an explosion of vengeance and voodoo. At the heart of it all is the enigmatic loner, DuJour, by all counts a victim...of fate, of changes, and - most of all - of the black magic-wielding Mama Houdoo, dark mistress of the rival Gatorbait Motorcycle Club! Our story is that of duJour's quest to rid himself of his curse(s) and gain some satisfaction at the expense of Mama and her ilk.
But, the story behind the story goes back a couple of years. Writer Kevin LaPorte concocted its foundation during road trips to comic conventions supporting horror comic Clown Town amidst discussions with the illustrious artist of that project, Amanda Rachels. LOTS of dead critters on the road in the Southeast U.S. where we were driving, and those times were at the height of Sons of Anarchy couture. Thus, an off-hand comment like, "What if there was a hero who got animal powers from eating roadkill," became the high concept of a badass biker who HAD to eat the roadkill due to a voodoo curse placed on him by a rival gang priestess! TA-DAAAAA! Roadkill du Jour!
Here is a look at the first four FINISHED pages of Roadkill du Jour #2!
Roadkill du Jour #2 is the next 20-page chapter of a 4-issue story. Funds collected will go first to fees, taxes, printing and production of books and rewards, and fulfillment (shipping, supplies, etc.). Any funds remaining beyond those expenses will go toward compensating the creators, marketing and distributing the project (via print, digital and personal appearances at conventions and retailers), and expanding the size of the print run (dependent upon demand).
EVERY Backer of THIS campaign (non-PDF tiers) who previously backed Flesh of White #'s 1 or 2 or Roadkill du Jour #1 will also receive a UNIQUE SKETCH Trading Card for DUJOUR, with actual pencil art by a Roadkill du Jour artist, Shawn Harbin or Laura Guzzo, or Flesh of White artist, Amanda Rachels!
Kevin LaPorte is the Mobile, Alabama-based writer and co-creator of genre comics with a horror bent - Roadkill du Jour, Clown Town, The Blind Eye! The worlds Kevin creates range from dark carnivals overrun by killer clowns violently avenging abused children (Clown Town) to dying frontier towns in the Old West beset by Steampunk versions of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (the in-development Last Ride for Horsemen) to the bayou territory of a lone motorcycle gangster seeking vengeance for his cursed appetite for street meat and the slaughter of his brothers-in-arms (Roadkill du Jour)! Kevin also contributed poetry and lyrics to Ancients & Warriors: The Sketch Art of Gavin Michelli, featuring the figure work of collaborator, Gavin Michelli.
Shawn Harbin is an enigmatic writer and artist mostly known for his work on The Dungeon Comic. The man himself is saturated with sardonic wit and pragmatic rants railing against man’s failure to live up to the laws of natural selection. Highly influenced by artists Todd McFarlane, John Romita Sr., Humberto Ramos, Frank Cho, Jay Leisten, and Jeff Koonz, Shawn’s talents as a penciler and storyteller are stimulated by some of the best in and out of the comic art world. His art is a mixture of hot babes, intelligent monsters, and campy humor wrapped in twisted darkness and highly innovative layouts.
Laura Guzzo is a freelance illustrator whose award-winning artwork has been featured in galleries across the East Coast. Laura enjoys working in many different media, including colored pencils, watercolor, and collage. She draws inspiration from tarot cards and stained glass, as well as from 1950's pin-up girls and the art nouveau movement. Laura currently works out of a studio in South Jersey. Her most recent projects include Shakespeare Shaken (Red Stylo Media) and PrinceLess (Action Lab Comics). To see more, visit: www.LauraGuzzoArt.com
