March Loud Bicycle Update #2

Hi everyone,

Great news, the shrinkage problem was fixed by adding more fiber to the material as you can see in the attached picture. This will make the case harder, but potentially more brittle so we’ll need to test that. There was also a tiny detail problem that I didn’t mention the last time – but the team fixed it too (can you find the difference between this sample and the one from the last update?)

Thanks to everyone for your feedback about the button color. We’ll make it black this time around and hopefully make some orange ones in the future… BAM and they already made it! On the right you also see the USB port cover.

Now that production is around the corner we’ve started tying up all the loose ends, including the box! Allison put together a really beautiful package design but there is still one piece missing. The specifications are going on the side of the box, but above that there is room for a short text snippet – spoken by our friendly rhinocyclist (thanks again Ellen Marcus). I know that what goes on the outside of the box really isn’t important compared to the contents of said box – but I’d still like your opinion.

Below are some ideas for what could go there. What would you like to see on the box when you get your horn in the mail?

  • The Loud Bicycle is as powerful as a car horn and sounds just like one too.
  • Feel the power to make drivers truly aware of you.
  • Please set a good example with your new horn!
  • Happy biking and stay safe out there!
  • ? [can you think of something to put here?]

Thanks so much for your help!

PS: Take note that there is a possibility that we won’t be able to get all this color on the box.

I would add something like: the loud bike horn is a tool to help keep you safe. But you still have to ride safely. I say this because I ride a motorcycle as well with a loud horn but it doesn't keep people from pulling out in front of me

Be Safe. Be Loud. Be Good.

Wow thanks for the great comments and suggestions. How about the text above? Agreed, safety first, even without a horn, then LOUD - then touching on John's point and Stephen's point "Be Good" means you shouldn't abuse the horn. Its short enough that everyone will read it even if they don't get to the directions.

@Robert LOL, you get an honorable mention!!! And if any of you haven't read it yet – scroll down and read Robert's suggestion :)

I like the ideas, though perhaps reversing the order "Be Safe, Be Loud"... the emphasis on safety rather than noise.

Or "Because a bell is to quiet to trust with your life" or similar

FOR EMERGENCY USE ONLY. The Loud bicycle horn gives you all the sonic power of a car. Please use the power for good.

Well, now that we have the same power as a car at the push of a button, you could say: Be respected..but don't forget to respect others

I couldn't help but come up with a snide remark to those mean ole' cars driver:
"The Loud Bicycle horn is so loud, it will have the vehicle driver leaving skid marks - in their shorts!!" and had a great laugh :-)

Personally, I don't care what's on the box and I think you shouldn't be concerned with that for the original backers. As a product moving forward, you definitely should, but I don't care what it says because I'm already sold.
