I've been drawing and playing with tarot cards since I was a little girl. I got my first deck from my Mom when I was about twelve -- she actually bought it for my little sister... but she was scared of them, so I inherited it :) As an angsty goth'd out pre-teen, I remember being intrigued by the pictures and the mystical stories behind them. I read up on the cards, learned the meanings of each card, and started doing readings with my friends. I have always wanted to design my own deck, but had never mustered up the courage to do so.
A few months ago, I took up drawing in a much more serious way and began working toward building a more professional drawing portfolio for myself. A couple of friends commented on my Instagram, saying that I could probably design a great deck of Tarot cards with my drawing style (thank you, thank you ;) ). Upon hearing this, I thought "Well, I've always wanted to do that, maybe I SHOULD!" and I decided to get started.
I officially announced the beginning of my #78cards project on my instagram, around the end of July. I estimated that it would take me over a year to finish all the cards, estimating about 4-7 days per card. It's been about two months since then and, I should be finishing up card #12 tonight! (Only 66 more to go!)
Initially, '78 Cards' was intended as nothing more than a way of staying focused on my goal of building a stronger drawing portfolio. As I completed the first couple cards though, I began getting requests from friends, family, and strangers to pre-order decks. I wasn't really planning to have the decks printed at the time, but after a few months of falling completely in love with the project, I am now DYING to make decks! This is where you guys come it. Printing custom decks of cards is not cheap, and to get a good printer, I need to order a big batch of decks.
With the money I make from this Kickstarter campaign I intend to print 50 decks of cards, as well as 25 paperback books explaining the meaning of each card (as well as pay for additional rewards, kickstarter, amazon, and shipping fees).
By backing my project, you are helping me fulfill my lifelong dream of creating my own tarot deck, helping me grow my portfolio for future endeavors, and pre-ordering your very own deck of cards!

Risks and challenges
There are three major risks and challenges associated with this project.
1.) Everyone I know will think that I am a witch from here on out... I'm not, but I guess that's the price I pay for taking on this project ;) Hopefully, no one will try to drown me.
2.) Finishing these drawings is going to take a LOT of patience, time, and willpower. I am 100% confident in myself to finish this project, and I hope you all are as well. There is very little in my life that is more important to me than this project right now and as far as I'm concerned quitting before I achieve my goal is NOT an option.
3.) Getting all of the rewards made (especially the deck and the book) will require a lot of planning and quality control. I'm an architect... so I'm really good at this sort of stuff. I've made dozens of spreadsheets researched a ton of printers, and am very confident things will go smoothly!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
