About this project
In a world where we offer so much of ourselves publicly through various outlets, we’ve lost the most basic habits of social interaction. We like, we Retweet, be we never just say, “Thank you.” Thus, we present…#ThanksForSharing
We are producing a short documentary following the launch of our gratitude campaign, #ThanksForSharing. This campaign is a “Thank you” to brands and individuals that have shaped our development. These people have served as a source of influence, inspiration, and a support system both personally and professionally. The documentary will capture me hand delivering handwritten postcards to some of the individuals residing in Denver, Atlanta, and New York City. Each of these relationships were created, maintained, or strengthen with the use of social media.
I’ve always known that I wanted to become an entrepreneur. I eventually launched LAME Clothing Project, a screen-printed base clothing line in 2011. Though I put in the time and effort to grow my company, the clothes simply weren’t selling. Instead of selling shirts, I was generating inquiries in reference to the graphic design displayed in my work. So I did what most would do, I followed the money. I endured a frustrating battle with myself, on how to redefine both my personal and professional brand.
It wasn’t until recently that I realized a way to bridge my ambitions without restriction. Only through observing my circle of influence, I was able see a diverse group of people living ambitiously through meaningful existence. I am happy to say that I’ve embraced a clear direction, and this project marks the beginning of a new venture, a personal pursuit. My first line of order is to give thanks to those who have served as support, influencers, and examples of living ambitiously. So this is for you, from me. Thanks for sharing.
Phrases such as “Please” and “Thank you” are amongst the first expressions humans learn in regards to communication. Within the world of social media, interactive features labeled as “Likes” “Retweet” and “Heart Symbols” we display engagement, acknowledgement, and even support. But we never just say, “Thank you” until now.
#ThanksForSharing is a social gratitude campaign to incorporate traditional forms of interaction to display gratitude within a world dominated by new forms of communication. Through the campaign we will ask participants to contribute through a few different actions:
We hope to generate a pay it forward like reaction to this project. We want provide a platform for others to give thanks to those who are invested in their development. We have designed and produced all the distributing materials, and they will now be available for the public through this Kickstarter campaign.
We are aiming this project to individuals who are artists, entrepreneurs, and professionals. People that know the importance of self- branding, social networking, and are consistently developing their communication skills while building a strong network. These individuals spend a large portion of their time on social media sites sharing, posting, and interacting while broadcasting their professional trades in conjunction with developing their public image.
The rewards we are offering are all exclusive to the kickstarter campaign. These items will not be publicly release at any other time in the future, so that is an added benefit of contributing to this project. These items are a combination of things we've always done in regards to the graphic tees and buttons. What is new are, the additions of the accessories being offered as well as interactive incentives showcased in the higher packages.
We are looking to secure at least $3,000.00 in funding to shoot the documentary. The funds raised will cover the cost of travel for the camera staff, as well as the final production of the film. The more funding we can secure the better quality film we can produce. If we raise more than $3,000.00 we may even be able to add Los Angeles and Washington, DC to our travel calendar.
