About this project
WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER!
If 4,400 people pledge $25 we'll make = $110,000
If 2,200 people pledge $50 we'll make = $110,000
If 1,100 people pledge $100 we'll make = $110,000
If 550 people pledge $200 we'll make = $110,000
That's how we can do this: TOGETHER!
What is AMBER about?
“Amber” is an ACTION/DRAMA about a Man who follows a truck described in an Amber Alert. He stumbles into a Human Trafficking Ring and has to rely on strangers to help him save a kid. It's an intense, gritty action film, but its also a film about courage; about ordinary people making extraordinary choices to do what's right.
In the United States, a child is missing or kidnapped every 40 seconds. That’s over 2,100 children per day. In 2011, over 800,000 children were reported missing. When a child is abducted, the first 3 hours are the most crucial in getting the child back safely. Law enforcement immediately launches a widespread search for the missing child. Amber Alerts are vital in the race to save that child.
What is an AMBER ALERT?
An Amber Alert is a Child Abduction Alert Bulletin that’s used in most countries around the world. It began in 1996, after a young girl named Amber Hagerman was abducted and murdered in Texas. Nearly every country in the world has a version of the Amber Alert. When a child is abducted, every second counts. Amber Alerts are vital in the race to retrieve that child. They’re broadcast on highway signs, on the radio, through texts. So when an Amber Alert goes out, anyone can be a hero...
What’s the story?
Marcus Turner, father of two, spots an Amber Alert while driving and writes down the information. On his way to work, he spots the vehicle. He tries to call the police but his cellphone dies, so he decides to follow it.
He follows the truck to a remote hideout and spots the Kidnapper pulling the child into a house. There’s also a group of armed men, guarding a barn with drugs inside. It’s not long before Marcus realizes he’s stumbled into the world of Human Trafficking.
He sneaks close and learns the kidnappers are leaving in the next few hours.
Marcus goes to the local Sheriff for help, but the Sheriff tries to kill him. With nowhere to go, he’s forced to seek the aid of a stranger.
His name is Troop, a street hustler from a rough neighborhood; intelligent, resourceful, with intangibles that prove useful.
The problem is, they don’t like each other.
The two Men must to learn to put down their anger and resentment and begin to trust each other to save the life of an innocent...
Human Trafficking/Child Abduction:
What is your vision for this project?
My goal is to get the audience to put themselves in place of the characters, then challenge them with the decisions they're forced to make. After watching this film, I would like the audience to leave with a feeling of camaraderie and positivity. Maybe a little more of an open mind when it comes to judging our fellow Man before getting to know them. It's my hope that people leave the theater saying "That could've been me."
Because Amber Alerts are broadcast to the public moments after an abduction, I believe everyday, normal people have the chance to become heroes. This is how I plan to market the film to the public. It will be an intense Action film, yet maintain a PG-13 rating to attract a wider audience. My target audience would be Men and Women 18-55.
Do you have a plan?
Yes. I've written a number of screenplays, but out of all of them, this is the first I've written thinking as a Producer. I went to the California Film Commission and obtained a list of State Properties that have no location fees for filmmaking, then scouted areas on the list. I then wrote the screenplay with these locations in mind. I believe this has enabled me to create a low-budget project that will be perfect for my first feature film, as well as allowing me to have the film pre-scouted.
I will apply for a SAG Ultra Low-Budget contract to enable me to hire quality actors and will assemble my Cast with a combination of veteran and up-and-coming actors.
Because I've pre-scouted the locations, I already have an idea of those costs and I'm currently in the process of breaking down the script and calculating the budget. Most of the funds will be used for Production, though part of the budget will go to Music, Visual FX, Coloring and Titles. Because of my experience as an Audio Engineer, I will take care of the audio recording, editing, and mixing. I will also do most of the video editing of the film. If necessary, I can rewrite portions of the story to fit the budget, guerrilla filmmaking at its finest!
I plan on shooting the film in a neutral style to maintain a realistic look. I'm a fan of the RED Series of cameras, so I'd like to shoot the film with the RED Scarlet, a modestly priced camera with a high quality, professional look. I'd also like to use quality lenses like the Canon CP2 Primes. I'll implement sliders, jibs and hand-helds to get most of my coverage, then use steady-cam systems to shoot the action sequences. I'll use occasional POV angles to draw the audience in so they can put themselves in place of the character.
How can I help produce this film?
- Hit the pledge button and donate to the film! The goal of this campaign is to raise $110,000. Why this amount? Because Kickstarter and Amazon both have transaction fees, so after collecting and distributing the funds, the Amber Project will be left with roughly $100,000 to produce the film.
- This campaign has a hard deadline of 11:59pm on September 2nd, 2012.
- If you decide to help, you pledge whatever you want in exchange for cool rewards (for example, a DVD copy of the film, a walk-on role, screening passes, etc)! The more you pledge, the better the rewards! Take a look at the column on the right to see what’s available.
- If we make our goal by the deadline, your credit card is charged what you pledged on the deadline date (but not until then). We get to make our movie, you get your reward and the satisfaction of knowing that you’ve helped make this great film happen!
- If we don’t make our goal by the deadline, your credit card is NOT charged, we get nothing, you don’t get any reward, and the world doesn’t get to see this film.
- Another way you can participate is to SPREAD THE WORD about this project! E-mail friends and family, share it on Facebook and Twitter, post in on online forums... Any way you can spread the word would be a HUGE help.
Feel free to ask any questions you have by using the “send message” link at the top of the page. You can also go to the website and join the mailing list to stay updated on the Amber Project and any future Lake Street Films releases...
Thank You for your support!!!

How can I pledge?
Pledging is easy, simply click the green “Back This Project” button in the upper right-hand corner. You will be asked to input your pledge amount and select a reward. From there, you will be redirected to the Amazon checkout process.
What if I don’t want the reward, I just want to support the project?
No problem, there’s a section for that on the pledging page.
How will the money be used?
Aside from a 5% Kickstarter fee and a 3-5% Amazon credit card processing fee, all funds raised will be used directly for the production and marketing of the film.

I will be supplying most of the audio recording equipment as well as doing the Video Editing and Audio Foley and Mixing myself. I have an extensive background in Audio Recording and Engineering.
If I'm lucky enough to obtain more than my goal, I would use the additional funds to first rent another RED Scarlet package and necessary crew. This would allow me to get more coverage while shooting. I would also invest into better Actors and locations which would ultimately raise the films production value.
I will also be adding $10-15,000 of my own funds for misc expenses related to the full creation of this film.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
Is it possible to exceed the goal?
YES! If we’re lucky enough to exceed our goal, we will use the excess funds to increase the film’s production value (better locations/sets, camera package, better lenses, etc), which will ultimately allow us to make a better movie.

If we don’t meet our goal before the deadline, no money changes hands and no movie is made. Don’t let this happen! Let’s make this film together!
What if I want to donate by PayPal?
