What You Need to Know!
We are Lady Moon & The Eclipse, a Brooklyn-based, multicultural ensemble with a unique sound we call Cosmic Soul. We are working on our first full-length LP entitled Journey to the Cosmic Soul, a concept-album recorded in three phases, each named after one of the celestial bodies that aligns during an eclipse: the Sun, the Earth, and the Moon.
To complete the album and bring Journey to the Cosmic Soul to the world, we need to raise $20,000 to pay for guest musicians, post-production engineer fees, vinyl and CD printing, as well as distribution and marketing.
Much like the earth, sun, and moon align during an eclipse, we invite you to align with us to bring Journey to the Cosmic Soul to life, while enjoying some cool perks along the way. :) Whether you can donate today or not, please spread the word to your community!
Lady Moon & The Eclipse
Brooklyn-based Lady Moon & The Eclipse is a multicultural ensemble that specializes in what the New York Times calls "Neo Soul with a cross-genre bent that manifests through Afrobeat, Gospel, and Funk," giving birth to a sound that is uniquely their own dubbed Cosmic Soul. That eclectic blend comes naturally to the collective that includes musicians from the Congo, France, Japan, New York and Chicago. Led by Ngonda Badila, aka Lady Moon, the band has attracted attention for its recent single, “Star Gazing,” and has toured extensively in the east coast, opening for such names as Kamasi Washington, Amanda Palmer, Maxi Priest, and Tank & the Bangas along the way.
Our Debut Album: Journey To The Cosmic Soul
In 2017, we began recording our first full-length album recorded and arranged in three phases which were named after each celestial body that align during an eclipse: the Sun, the Earth, and the Moon. Each of these phases is also an exploration of a different aspect of being: Sun = Mind, Earth = Body, Moon = Soul. This concept is used to guide our journey through the musical universe we call “Cosmic Soul"; one of infinite creativity and imagination.
What Your Support Will Do
Producing recorded music at the best quality we can is costly: there are studio rentals, post-production expenses, and hiring guest musicians (we can’t wait for you to hear those silky strings and punchy horn sections!). Your support will fund that as well as printing vinyl and CDs for distribution, and pay for the PR and marketing costs associated with bringing the album to the rest of the galaxy! Here’s a breakdown of the full project budget:
- Mixing & Mastering: $5,100
- Production and guest musicians: $2,300
- Artwork [3 sides, labels, layout]: $1,500
- Printing DOUBLE LP Vinyl & CDs: $5,100
- Marketing [6 month launch campaign]: $4,500
- Merch [t-shirts & tote bags]: $1,500
Align with Us!
If you’ve come to a Lady Moon & The Eclipse show, you’ll know that we strive to build a community around our music. A community as diverse as our band members and musical tastes, one that goes beyond the six of us to include our friends, families, colleagues, and most importantly our fans. We welcome you to align with us on this “Journey to the Cosmic Soul”!
On behalf of Lady Moon & The Eclipse and all the talented people involved in bringing Journey to the Cosmic Soul to life, thank you for your support!
