LADIES' NIGHT ANTHOLOGY: SISTERS
SISTERS in our lives dare us to be more. Sometimes we are born with them, sometimes we choose them. We always fight beside them. Here's how our fellowship of women, nonbinary, and genderqueer creators came together.
In February of 2012, an enterprising young comics fan named Hannah K. Chapman found herself in Chicago wishing for a community where she could talk to other awesome women about shared nerdy loves. Thus, Ladies' Night at Graham Cracker Comics was born! Five years later, and we are putting together the fifth volume of an anthology that features original comics from talented women and nonbinary creators from all over the world!
Ladies' Night Anthology was built on the belief that education and community are vital for helping more underrepresented creators succeed in the comic book industry. We concentrate on working with first time creators and those that have never collaborated before, giving them tools, guidance, and mentorship to move to the next level of their career. Our goal is and has always been to watch people outgrow Ladies' Night Anthology after working with us, and we've been lucky enough to see a slew of our talented contributors go on to very successful paying jobs creating comics! Previous participants include Anissa Espinosa (Bee and Puppycat, Beyond Anthology, Cast No Shadow), Brittany Peer (TMNT: Casey & April, Jonesy, Misfit City), Kat Leyh (Supercakes, Lumberjanes), Monica Ras (Touching Evil, The World Ends With Us), and Shawnee & Shawnelle Gibbs (The Invention of E. J. Whitaker).

The vast majority of our annual budget goes directly to printing the full-color books, with about 35% of the total dedicated to maintaining the day-to-day operations of LNA, getting backer rewards made, attending cons, and hosting workshops and events for our participants (plus things like Kickstarter fees).

With the massive success of our Kickstarter last year to reprint Volumes 1-3 and print Volume 4, we reached hundreds of new fans and readers. Thankfully, we don't need to do another round of reprints (yet?) but it does mean our goals have changed from our first few volumes...namely, we need a lot more books!

SISTERS is an all-ages book about the bonds that we're born with, and those we chose, so we've tried to create some perks that will appeal to everyone.
- Every backer level gets a PDF of Sisters, featuring 10 never-before-published comics from 24 creators from all over the world, with amazing cover art by Elizabeth Perez.
- Any level above $10 gets a physical copy of Sisters.
- Pledge $20 or more and get one set of (2) matching enamel pins designed by cover artist Elizabeth Perez, as well as your name in the "Thank You" section of the book. The first 25 backers at this level also get free (domestic) shipping!
- Select our $30 reward level or above and you'll also get a copy of the zine Doin' it For Themselves. With every anthology, we get a bunch of amazing content that doesn't quite fit in the anthology (additional comics, pin up illustrations, etc), but we still want people to see it...so we make a zine!
- At $50, you'll get all of that...plus a beautiful wood keychain designed by Dani Knight to commemorate our 5 year anniversary!
- Missed out on previous Kickstarters? For $40, you can buy a copy of each of our 5 volumes of Ladies' Night Anthology, including Chicago, Death & Prom, How to Magic, Eat it Up! and Sisters.

Unlike with our last Kickstarter, we are NOT allowing add on items to request copies of previous PDFs or combine perks. All of our previous items and books are available in our online shop, and as soon as we ship out Volume 5 rewards to our backers we will put these perks up in the shop, too.

SISTERS features 10 full-color sequential comics with all-ages content from 24 different women and nonbinary creators from around the world:
♡ Abby Shaffer ♡ Amalia DeGirolamo ♡ Amy Chase ♡
♡ Andrea Pearson ♡ Berta Pascual (Bamidala) ♡ Bethany Duvall ♡
♡ Catherine Satrun ♡ Elizabeth Perez ♡ Ellen Linzer ♡

♡ Jade Armstrong ♡ Kaia Alderson ♡ Kelly Richards ♡
♡ Megan Riley ♡ Rachel Halpern ♡ Rita Martins ♡

We have a team of five editors that help guide each individual story as well as running the day-to-day (and year-to-year) activities for Ladies' Night Anthology: EIC Megan Byrd, Lauren Burke, Kris Mackenzie, Caitlin Rosberg, and Summer Sparacin.
We also want to thank book designer Amanda Schwarz and video editor Cameron Keleher for their support and help in formatting the book and helping us with our photo and video needs!

Risks and challenges
We have successfully funded and printed our first three anthologies on IndieGogo: Chicago, Death & Prom, and How to Magic. Our fourth volume, Eat It Up!, met this same funding reward last year on Kickstarter, so we're hoping our community will step up and help us get these funds again this year!
Final art from our amazing teams is either complete or nearly so, and we have vendors all lined up to print the books and make our perks, all of whom we have worked with in the past. Because we keep our books a standard size and length, we already have the tools and skills to maximize efficiency when it comes to shipping all the perks out.
