Sharfton, Shadows, and Rats
I'm super busy with time critical stuff at the moment, but I will get to collecting address from those who will receive Sharftons in the next couple of weeks. So if you haven't heard from me, fret not! Your Sharftons are resting in their kennels, preparing for the coming battles. Feel free to message me your address for later.
The New Thing™: Shadows of Arkham
We're excited to finally be able to announce our next microgame. We were really inspired by all of the support we were shown with Province. We've raised the stakes and endured a monstrous undertaking to bring you something new.
Province tackled the challenge of making a micro-eurogame. So when considering what to do next it occurred to us: why not do micro-ameritrash?
How would that even work? Ameritrash games are full of stuff and theme! Things Sam and I are both quite fond of, but how do you make a micro one? The theme was obvious immediately: What better theme to represent such a conflicted concept than Lovecraft? We present to you, dear readers:
In Shadows of Arkham, 2-4 players take on the roles of citizens of the Miskatonic Valley who must work together to prevent cosmic horrors from unraveling reality. Shadows focuses on dealing with the consequences of dark forces conspiring against players rather than combat. Players take turns spending actions to travel the streets of Arkham researching Knowledge, hiring Muscle, collecting Assets, and dealing with Threats. The game only takes around 20 minutes per player, and we want to cram it with as much stuff as we can. With your help of course! : D
You can check out a big version of the image above on Board Game Geek. We could really use your thumbs! ;) We're hoping to bring it to KS in the next few weeks! So we'll be talking more about it very soon!
What's that, you'd like to try it now? Well you're in luck!
After dusting off some web development skills, we've put together a site for people who'd like to try our new stuff and tell us what they think. We're calling it Labrats, and we needs rats like you! : D
We make all kinds of games, and we're always looking for feedback. You can tell us what you'd like to try when you register. Wanna play nearly finished board games? Cool. Wanna try a really early mobile game prototypes? That's cool too!
When we have a game we'd like you to check out, you'll get an email with more info about the game and you can decide if it's something you'd enjoy! :) It's a system we're hoping to grow, and we some fun ideas for it. That said it's also new, if you run into any troubles, let us know!
Right now we're looking to get some feedback on balancing for Shadows of Arkham. So if you'd be down to play a bunch of games and let us know how it went, we'd love your assistance!
One more thing!
We try not to bother you with unrelated Kickstarter projects. But! With your silent permission, I'd like to make an exception!
See, Sam has a brother. His name is Jacob, and he's trying to make a movie. He's a grad student at USC, and they have some pretty strict policies about student work. He's only just now been given permission to share the final film with his project backers, which is actually a pretty big deal even though it seems like a no brainer! He's only got a week left, and he's just over 50%. So if you enjoy helping creative, clever people do the things they're passionate about, he could really use your help.
Talented boys in that family. Please check it out.
