Contest Winner set - Insanity Dice

Insanity Dice Set
Insanity Dice Set

Created by Dallas Mehlhoff, Here is his Bio: "I am a seasoned freelance board game graphic designer/artist based out of Minnesota. I have had the chance to work with great companies such as Fantasy Flight Games and Kid Loves Tiger Games to produce visual graphics for well known table top games like Elder Sign, X-wing, and Legends of the Mist! The inspiration for the insanity dice set came from my love for everything H.P. Lovecraft related and of course my love for unique DICE!"

This set contains 4 different dice. Faces from 1 to 5 have numbers and decorations and the sixth has the same dice and an artwork. Dice are:

  • Eye Ball: 16mm lime die laser engraved. Black painted.
  • Skull: 16mm black die laser engraved. White paint.
  • Cat Eye: 16mm cream die laser engraved. Black paint.
  • Tongue: 16mm red die laser engraved. Black paint.

This set could be selected as part of Insanity dice and Non plus Ultra pledge level or simply managing your existing pledge (green botton on right top) and add 8€ to your pledge without changing reward.

The begin of the campaign is this..

Are you a dice lover? A collector? Or are you a designer?
Well, you're like us and this campaign is perfect for you!

Our goal is to run a new website dedicated to dice design. Dice Riot

Every 2 weeks a new design will be released. Its availability will be limited to 4 weeks only. Over that time, we will not collect order for these dice. The only way to have them will be buy them from a collector, and that collector could be you!

Yes, you read well!
Each design will be unique and not repeated, it means that each die will acquire value during time!

On Riot Dice, you could also gain money!
You will have the possibility to submit your designs. If we will accept them your dice will be scheduled and you will achieve the 10% from their income as copyright!

We decided to start manufacturing 6-sided dice only. Why?
Because 6-sided die is the die! Each human on Earth knows it, Each classical board game uses D6 as well as the most part of tabletop wargames.
D6 is mainstream. So we will start offering the best and evocative dice set to all!
(if you are the only one on earth who don't know it please look at dice history just before the end of this page)

Why Kickstarter? And why us?

With this campaign we want to cover riotdice.com programming costs, no more. We have all the machinery needed and we have experience in it.
We also have design skills and great nerd ideas.

Why us? Well, let us say that Riotdice.com will be the first website in its kind. You could be part of the project since its beginning.
Don't forget that when we say "part of the project" it means really part of the design team!

So... let's start!

The 3 sets
The 3 sets

 Here we are!
to show you what we are going to do, we designed 3 different dice set. One of them is a funny matter, inspired by the people around us and their attitude with domestic animals. The second one is a simple, clean, abstract geometrical exercise and the last of the 3 was born from our nerd passion for tv series.

So 1 is funny, 1 is pure design and 1 is Nerd. Can you resist them?

Shipping Information

Please Take Note! Based on our experience, we will charge shipping after the Kickstarter Campaign ends, and the prices will be based on the actual costs. We will collect shipping costs at the end of the production, just before the shipping, so that we can be fair to all our backers since shipping is rarely the same for everyone, and we're working to give you more stretch goals, goodies, and add-ons for the same shipping price! We have a great contract with an express courier and all pledges will be shipped from Italy or Slovenia to minimize the costs.

At the moment the maximum cost is 8€ for a 2 kg delivery worldwide but consider that each die weight 4 grams.

Keep in mind these are just estimates, and costs may rise based on weight increases from any optional buys you choose and SG unlocked.
We regret we are unable to ship to PO Boxes.

Disclaimer

Our dice are not official dice for any game, book, tv series or comic and we are in no way affiliated with or endorsed by their writer, producer or designer companies, nor do we use any copyrighted material of them or intend any copyright violation.
We too are fans and respectful of intellectual property.

Risks and challenges

Production will be completely made in our workshop in Italy.
If the project raises levels over our expectation production times could be longer, anyway we still have agreements with other companies to give away same part of productions so you should not worry.
The estimated delivery date is November 2017, but keep in mind this is only an estimate. Also, due to the logistics of international shipping, backers in different regions of the world may receive their rewards sooner than others.
We've done our best to minimize these problems as much as possible, and we are always happy to refund pledges if, for some totally unforeseen reason, the project couldn't be delivered at all.
Since it is 90% complete, we don't believe this will happen.
We have 1 ongoing projects currently other than Riot Dice but is nealy to the end so, once Kickstarter will confirm your pledges we will be 150% on it.

REFUND POLICY

We can refund you within 14 days of the campaign’s end, fees included. After that, we have a policy of no questions asked, though that’s minus Kickstarter and payment processing fees (which we can’t get back from them after 14 days). However, if we’ve begun packaging your pledge for shipment (usually 4 to 6 weeks before the actual shipping date), no refunds are possible.
If a component cannot be delivered AT ALL, we refund that completely, including fees. All refunds after the 14 days close of the campaign may be processed via Paypal. This project is being funded in Euro and any refunds processed will be in Euro for the exact amount received in Euro, excluding any applicable fees depending on the time of the refund being processed.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By pledging to this project, you acknowledge that the final look, materials and content of the rewards (and the project) are subject to change and may differ substantially from what is presented while the Kickstarter project was active.
Models will be provided unassembled and unpainted.
If you do not log in and confirm your pledge within 8 weeks of our notification via email to confirm your pledge, you agree that we have fulfilled our obligations to you in full for payment or donations received. However, we may, at our discretion, refund or ship your pledge if you contact us and confirm your pledge after the 8 week window has elapsed. If you confirm your pledge within 8 weeks of our notification via email, you agree that our responsibility to you is to ship your order as entered into our pledge manager system, that title and risk passes to you upon delivery to a common carrier for such shipment, and you are responsible for import duties or any other duties that may be payable to the relevant tax authorities, providing correct address information and ensuring this address is deliverable by normal methods.

If you do not accept these terms, please do not pledge on this project but instead wait for the general release.

BASIC INFOS
Dice (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Dice (singular die or dice;[1] from Old French dé; from Latin datum "something which is given or played"[2]) are small throwable objects with multiple resting positions, used for generating random numbers. Dice are suitable as gambling devices for games like craps and are also used in non-gambling tabletop games.

A traditional die is a cube, with each of its six faces showing a different number of dots (pips) from 1 to 6. When thrown or rolled, the die comes to rest showing on its upper surface a random integer from one to six, each value being equally likely. A variety of similar devices are also described as dice; such specialized dice may have polyhedral or irregular shapes and may have faces marked with symbols instead of numbers. They may be used to produce results other than one through six. Loaded and crooked dice are designed to favor some results over others for purposes of cheating or amusement.

A dice tray, a tray used to contain thrown dice, is sometimes used for gambling or board games, in particular, to allow dice throws which do not interfere with other game pieces.

History[edit]

Dice have been used since before recorded history, and it is uncertain where they originated. The oldest known dice were excavated as part of a backgammon-like game set at the Burnt City, an archeological site in south-eastern Iran, estimated to be from between 2800–2500 BCE.[3] Other excavations from ancient tombs in the Indus Valley civilization indicate a South Asian origin.[4]

The Egyptian game of Senet was played with dice. Senet was played before 3000 BC and up to the 2nd century AD. It was likely a racing game, but there is no scholarly consensus on the rules of Senet.[5] Dicing is mentioned as an Indian game in the Rigveda, Atharvaveda and the early Buddhist games list.[6] There are several biblical references to "casting lots", as in Psalm 22, indicating that dicing (or a related activity) was commonplace when the psalm was composed. It is theorized that dice developed from the practice of fortunetelling with the talus of hoofed animals, colloquially known as "knucklebones", but knucklebones is not the oldest divination technique that incorporates randomness.[7] Knucklebones was a game of skill played by women and children; a derivative form had the four sides of the bone receive different values and count as modern dice.[8]

Knucklebones die, made of steatite
Although gambling was illegal, many Romans were passionate gamblers who enjoyed dicing, which was known as aleam ludere ("to play at dice"). Dicing was even a popular pastime of emperors. Letters by Augustus to Tacitus and his daughter recount his hobby of dicing. There were two sizes of Roman dice. Tali were large dice inscribed with one, three, four, and six on four sides. Tesserae were smaller dice with sides numbered from one to six.[9] Twenty-sided dice date back to the 2nd century AD [10] and from Ptolemaic Egypt as early as the 2nd century BC.[11]

Dominoes and playing cards originated in China as developments from dice. The transition from dice to playing cards occurred in China around the Tang dynasty, and coincides with the technological transition from rolls of manuscripts to block printed books.[12] In Japan, dice were used to play a popular game called sugoroku. There are two types of sugoroku. Ban-sugoroku is similar to backgammon and dates to the Heian period, while e-sugoroku is a racing game.
