About my thoughts behind the Deck's Art
In this update, I want to give you a better understanding of my intention behind the Art in this deck.
But first... to all my Supporters at this point, I am tremendously thankful. I am doing all that I can to build some momentum to this project. However, I am a bit let down at this early stage of development. I understand that my cards are unorthodox, but there is something really special in of them too. This I know, for I know what led to them. There are many people out there in our world and I know that some of you can see this. It's not just a deck. -- And I am not a worldly and rich guy. I am a struggling artist and musician.
Well... I've been asked about the relationship between the Back Art and the Front Art and the Joker. Some wondered why I have a dark haunting Back and what seems to be a more colorful and upbeat Face to the cards. Well, so many decks DO have an overall similar look to the whole thing. But, emotion and life is not like that. And, I had an overalll different thought to this deck's art... I actually wanted there to be a varied emotion to the deck... like in life... there are different emotions and feels. And to me, a Playing Card has TWO sides. In my cards, both sides do have a connection. But, they are sort of like Night and Day. Or like Kansas and Oz. Reality and a Dream. I worked so the cards DID have this strange feel about them. A Dark Black Back... but then when you turn the card there is a Vividness and a Beauty.
Also, the Faces of these cards are built off playing card TRADITIONS. Yet, each one is carefully reworked in a deep consideration by me. So, the deck remains true to a traditional deck. Nothing interferes with it's playability, and yet it still radiates it's own vibe.
The number cards are left to be again more simple in of their traditional elegance. I could have gone to extremes with the art. But, that would have spoiled it. At least for me.
The Joker. Yes. He has an almost cartoonish flair to his art. He doesn't FIT in with the others. He doesn't flow along with the plan. He is the deviant. Yes, he may be freakish to the art of the rest of the deck... and not fit in... but that is why he is the deviant... and that is why he is the Joker.
I don't know if we will see the deck come to life, or not. But, boy, if you only
new the emotion that went into it. That is something that will stay
with me forever, either way.
BUT... do not fret. To those that that have supported me and also want to see this happen. I will continue to do all that I can to make... what is a dream... come true.
Thanks again, and I'll keep in touch.
