Stretch goals and other news!

Hey everyone! Thank you all so much for your constant feedback and support. It's been a week since our release and we’re finally ready to announce our first batch of stretch goals and potential collaborations!

Collaborations

The votes are in! You have been surprisingly clear on who you want us to collaborate with and we couldn’t be more excited!  In general, we had an overwhelming amount of responses asking us to collaborate with Pebble and UDOO.

Pebble is currently the most successful (and probably widespread) project ever launched on Kickstarter, which made it no surprise that it kept popping up in the responses.  We've gone ahead and contacted Pebble and have started investigating the possibilities of the BLEduino and Pebble communicating with each other.  This would be totally awesome and would enable a ton of amazing scenarios.  We'll have more updates on this in the future so stay tuned!

UDOO is another awesome project on Kickstarter that got a lot of mention on the survey.  We’re still looking into the details, but we believe we can get the UDOO to communicate with our BLEduino! The good news is that most of the work we put into this will also probably apply to the Raspberry Pi.  We've added this as a stretch goal and can't wait to start working on it.  Just imagine the awesome scenarios this would enable!

We're super exited about the potential projects that stem from these collaborations and hope that you are too!  Please let us know if there's anyone else you'd like us to collaborate with and what scenarios you'd like us to cover.

Stretch Goals

We couldn’t be more grateful for all the support we’ve received since our launch. We're very happy to announce these stretch goals based on your responses.

30k: 4 extra modules + t-shirt add-on

A surprisingly large amount of you wanted extra modules, so rather than adding 2, we’ll be adding 4 if we reach 30k! We’re open to suggestions on what these modules should be so please contact us if you have a particular need or idea. Also, since there was significant interest and it's fairly simple, we'll be adding the t-shirt add-on as well. If we reach 30k you’ll be able to add a t-shirt on any pledge that doesn't already include one for $15.

60k: 2 online classes on BLEduino hacking.

We want the BLEduino to be the easiest and simplest BLE enabled Arduino on the market. For this reason, if we reach 60k, we'll be creating 2 online video/classes specialized on the BLEduino. One class will be focused on the Arduino aspect of the BLEduino (electronics, code, etc.), and the other on the iPhone aspect of the BLEduino (iOS development, code, etc.).

100k: Raspberry Pi and UDOO Python Library / Wrapper

We understand you love your UDOO and/or Raspberry Pi so we'll help you make them work with the BLEduino!  If we reach 100k we'll build a Python library/wrapper that allows you to interact with the BLEduino via a BLE dongle (If you backed UDOO you might get one of these with your reward).  This enables some pretty awesome scenarios since you could essentially use a UDOO or a Raspberry Pi as a hub for other BLEduinos.  The possibilities are endless and we're super excited to see what could be done. We’re open to suggestions on what else you’d like the library to do so feel free to comment and let us know.

Thank you for reading, and we hope you’re as excited about this update as we are! Please contact us if you have any questions, comments, or concerns!  We love talking to you and listening to your feedback.

How you can continue to help

Two incredible things happened today.  We reached 500 backers and the BLEduino was selected as a kickstarter staff pick!  These are significant milestones for us and it's all thanks to your support!

This is very relevant to us because of the social and economic context surrounding our project.  This kickstarter represents the first step in a long journey of hardware development in our island.  Thank you so much for being a part of it.  For more information on the "Hardware Renaissance" happening in Puerto Rico you can read the following Forbes article that talks about us.

In the meantime here are a few things you can do to help us reach our stretch goals:

As always, you're the best.  Thank you!

Hey everyone, just to clarify on the 30k stretch goal, the modules added will be iPhone app software modules, not physical hardware modules. Thank you!

Great. Now we have something truly a cut above the rest.

      @Rob
Thank you for the feedback! We've actually discussed adding something like this for a while, maybe even including it as a part of the BLEduino or Shield-Shield. We're currently investigating how feasible it would be considering its added cost. We'll keep you up to date on those developments. Thank you and feel free to ask us anything else :)

Thinking about an arduino fio, it would be a cool to have a module that allows the BLEduino to charge and run off a LiPo battery
