in a world of swipes and likes, where does romance stand?

Our generation is connected.  We live our lives on our iPhones.  We have instant access to our photos. Our friends.  Our calendar.  Our music.  And our dating lives.  With apps like Tinder + Bumble, your next love might be a swipe away.  But we had a bigger question. In our world of swipes and likes, where does romance stand?  Ambivalence Studios followed six young people throughout their adventures in online dating to find out.

but we need your help.

Our team is completely comprised of young filmmakers and storytellers.  We're set to premiere our film SHEEP in February of 2019.  We're excited to share the stories that speak of the weird time we live in, and what it's like as a young person looking for love.

We need your backing and support for a variety of things.  We want to make the premiere event spectacular.  In addition, we're looking to enter our film into film festivals over the spring and summer to share our stories with as many people as we can.  With this film, we want to create a conversation about how we treat, interact, hurt, and love each other, and really examine how the internet effects that.

TRENT  (18)  -  After a rough year, Trent is looking to end high school on a high.  Trent has used Tinder before, but feels like he has changed since then.  While he's recovering from rock bottom and discovering himself, Trent is ready for change.  Although, he's not quite sure returning to Tinder is the best change.

AMANDA  (18)  -  Amanda is currently in a rough patch after failing her senior year of high school, having to move out of her house, and other traumatic events.  She's had Tinder ever since she turned 18, and has been using it extensively ever since.  Despite how crazy hectic her life is right now working two serving jobs and getting her GED, Tinder and other dating apps still plays a large role in it.

MEGAN  (20)  -  Megan is a junior in college and is realizing that she is being held back by toxicity in her day-to-day.  As she learns to let go, she is realizing that she doesn't need toxic people holding her back.  She's hoping to take dating and relationships more seriously as she moves past her problems and moves forward in the world.

ADDISON  (19)  -  Addison is sophomore in college who is ready to take some time for himself, rather than just focusing on school.  He's new to the world of dating apps. Although he's excited to explore Tinder, he is still struggling to identify and cope with his feelings for one of his best friends.

LILY  (19)  -  Lily is at a community college and has been told her entire life to work harder. She is always working, whether it's at either of her two jobs or at school.  She's not entirely happy with life right now, but she's working on learning to love herself.  She's been on Tinder for a while, and is trying to understand how it makes her feel.

JADA  (19)  -  Jada is a college student who is searching for a relationship. She initially joined Tinder as a joke a few months ago, but found herself actually using Tinder.  As she is realizing and understanding everything that has happened over the last few months, Jada is starting to identify what she'll make of her youth.

Risks and challenges

The biggest risk to SHEEP is going to be distribution of the film. After the premiere of our last film, our momentum dropped exponentially. Our plan with this film is to have a rolling release locally with smaller screenings around our region. From there, we hope to expand further regional and enter film festivals to gain exposure.
