Kyle Anne's Debut Full-Length Album
Kyle Anne's Debut Full-Length Album
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Fri, November 8 2019 2:31 PM UTC +00:00.
I've been wanting to make this record for so damn long.
Have you ever been through a situation so difficult that you have to close the door on all the grief and bitterness in your heart, because you know if you let yourself really feel it, you won't be able to walk away and never look back?
Well, I wrote this record for you.
It's very personal, and it's very raw, and it's taken a lot of healing, self-work, and honesty to write. Dismantling past trauma is a daunting undertaking, but it is necessary and doable when you are in a safe space full of radical, unconditional love, free of judgement. I consider myself so privileged to have that, and for the ability to transform my pain into this body of work.
Music is such an important part of my life, and so many other folks lives, and I hope this offering brings you comfort and makes you feel things.

If we happen to hit our goal before the campaign, we have a few stretch goals in mind to extend our funding for this project!
$10,000 (Vinyl) - If you, me, and everyone you know can meet the project goal and hit at least $10,000 in pledges by the campaigns conclusion, a vinyl edition of Eulogy will be produced, and included as a bonus reward for any backer in the $40+ tiers. This is our first stretch goal, and if it's met the next will be unlocked!
$????? (SECRET) - This stretch goal will be revealed if the first is met ($10,000)!
Let me tell you, budgeting for an album ain't easy (and it isn't cheap, either). I can't even begin to explain what your pledge would mean to me. As I deeply respect any and every contribution, I'd like to provide a detailed and open breakdown of exactly what your pledges go towards.
Studio Time and Tracking - 16% - Caleb Neff of Juniper Recording (Cape Coral, FL), was the only person I knew I could trust with making this record, and man did he nail it. He's a self-described "Gear Nerd" and a skilled recording engineer, and the fact that he's an incredible songwriter made him intuitive to exactly what I was trying to deliver.
Mixing and Mastering - 9% - For anyone not familiar with the album making process, the mixing and mastering is where the REAL magic happens. Caleb was kind enough to work with me on providing an excellent mix of the final product, and from there he sent the mixes off to Cameron J. Henry, formerly of Welcome to 1979 Studio in Nashville, for mastering. As Caleb put it, "Cameron will make your songs sound like 10 million bucks!"
CD Duplication - 12% - Though we live in a digital age, there's just something about putting an album into someone's hand can be felt and touched. This will be the first album I've decided to make physical copies of, and I'm excited to be able to provide it to my fans for their physical album libraries.
Album Art - 8% - Every great album needs beautiful art to accompany it. Jesi Cason Photography worked with me to create a striking series of images that fits the mood of the album perfectly, for the actual cover and for promotional purposes as well. The photos were given to artist Lee Bretschneider to produce a four panel digipack, featuring an embossed sticker on the front cover packaging.
Social Media Marketing - 7% - I am very proud of the work I put into this album, and I want to share it with as many people as possible! Luckily, in the internet age, music is very accessible if you know how to market it correctly. I've been talking to marketing specialists and doing my own research to invest in a social media marketing campaign that will help get my music to a wider, more curated audience. This portion of the budget is especially important.
Merch - 10% - Every musician knows it's important to have merch available for purchase at each show. If the money collected at the door isn't what you thought it would be, often a musician can make up for it by selling merch! My fiance is a talented artist and illustrated a T-Shirt design for me that fits my aesthetic, and I'm working with Graveyard Shift Printing, a local SWFL company known for their quality and attention to detail, to get them made.
Unexpected Finances - 7% - You have to expect the unexpected. You never know what could happen during the exciting yet expensive process of making album, so it's important to have a small percentage set aside for a little cushion, just in case.
Business Expenses, Legal Fees, Taxes - 20%- As any entrepreneur knows, you have to pay through the nose in taxes and fees to operate your own business. Therefore, the associated expenses are factored into the project goal.
Kickstarter Fees -10% - Kickstarter takes a portion of your funds if you meet your goal, which is factored into the project goal.
Thank you to Caleb Neff, Cameron Henry, Marc Davis, Doug Smith, Keith Cute, Jesi Cason, Lee Bretschneider, Palace Pub and wine bar and you, especially you, for taking time out of your day to consider backing and sharing this project; thank you.
About Kyle Anne
Kyle Anne Duggan is an accomplished singer-songwriter and performer. She studied Songwriting at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, with voice as her principle instrument. She is also proficient at guitar and piano.
The late Henry Gaffney hailed her music as "Beautiful. Hopeful, borderlining heartbreaking." Livingston Taylor, a prominent figure in the contemporary folk scene, and one of her favorite professors, called her a "Honking guitar player!" and also informed her that she was as "Talented as my brother James [Taylor]!"
Kyle Anne currently resides in Southwest Florida, where she actively performs all around the Fort Myers and Naples area, including The Norris Center, Mercato Naples, The Sydney Berne Davis Art Center, The Ranch Concert Hall and Saloon, and various local establishments and venues of varying size. She was a featured performer and organizer of Babefest 2016, a music festival that features female musicians curated by Love Your Rebellion, a local feminist collective who she is actively involved with. She also performed at Naples Baconfest 2016, where she opened for country superstars Brooke Eden and Love & Theft. Her music has been featured on local radio stations, WGCU Gulf Coast Live (a division of NPR News) as well as chart-topping podcasts such as the feminist anti-slut shaming podcast Guys We F**ked. She participated in and won a slew of local songwriting competitions, notably Ghostbird Theatre Company's 24 Hour Art Challenge back-to-back in 2018 & 2019, and The Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center's 2018 Summer Songwriting Competition. She shared the stage with numerous hit songwriters when she played at BMI's Island Hopper Songwriting Festival in 2018 and 2019, and continues to play with a wide range of touring musicians and groups, including Lung, Ellisa Sun, Band of Heathens, Mountain Holler, The West King String Band, Surfer Blood, and The Eli Young Band.
In 2016, Kyle Anne released The Florida EP on digital platforms, followed by a second EP, The Greater Need, which was released to streaming services in early 2019. Her debut full length album, Eulogy, is due to be released in November of 2019.
Praise for 2016's The Florida EP
“Florida is an autobiographical examination of a character’s conflicted feelings about returning home from New England to Southwest Florida, and the beauty and pitfalls of both areas, with searingly honest lyrics and lovely blue-grass inflected guitar.”
"The natural style of these tracks allows life to flow through each bar with a perfect balance between production polish and live-sounding performance, always with Kyle’s voice front and centre, crying out with an appealing country-folk trill. There are many underground and homespun singer-songwriters out there, but this recording really stands out. Even with it’s sometimes very DIY feel, ‘The Florida EP’ has some very special moments."
Risks and challenges
Though I'm confident about these songs and the team I've worked with to bring them to the world, experience tells me there are always going to be challenges. We've tried to anticipate this by having backup production plans and including a buffer in our total budget. These factors, along with a hard work ethic, will ensure that we ship rewards to our backers as close to our expected shipping dates as possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
