It sure can!
Our fasteners are shaped and designed to actually work with standard issued tripod mounts... making them truly universal and providing the user the option of carrying a camera in either a sling or slide carrying mode! “Where there’s a hole, there’s a way!” ;)
Actually, if you’re using any standard tripod mount made by any well-known camera accessory company, our camera strap ALREADY works as a true sling/slide carrying camera strap!
We’ve taken traditional tripod mounts as well as variously designed tripod mounts by other camera companies and see that our fasteners already loop into and connect around the adjuster ring, the open 1/4 hole or some other clearance that has been provided for other purposes!
Unfortunately, you will have to disconnect the camera strap before mounting your camera to a tripod…
Fortunately, our camera strap INSTANTLY connects and COMPLETELY disconnects from any camera body so it’s very simple to disconnect the fastener attached to your camera’s tripod mount, mount your camera to the tripod and then reconnect the camera strap to the other side of the camera and do within about…. The SAME time it would take to mount a camera to a tripod without having to remove a strap at all!Last updated:
The short answer is, they can comfortably handle a load capacity over 210lb.!
The technical, long-winded and detailed answer is this;
EACH fastener has an Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) of more than 290+ MPa (42,000 psi). Because of the diameter thickness and subtle yet unique and purpose driven curvature of the hooks, each fastener boasts a minimum static load of 109lb. With a static load that heavy, a set of our fasteners can collectively handle a load weighing more than an average weight adult male hanging from the fasteners while he reps out pull-ups.… which coincidently enough, is how we went about testing them ;)
To give a comparable example to the fastener’s strength, a Canon 1DX MarkII with a mounted 70-200 f/2.8 II IS USM L series lens weighs in at a whopping... 6.92lb…. About 111 ounces.... and if you're unfamiliar with camera setups, that's a REALLY BIG AND HEAVY SETUP. If you were to take that same camera setup, bring it to eye level and then completely release the camera, letting it free fall for 0.5 seconds (descending at a rate around 16.1 feet per second or (=) to a 2.125ft drop which is the average distance between a person's eye and their waist) only to catch and swing from the camera strap and sort of pendulum into your waist (we’ll give that a conservative rate of deceleration around 4 inches), the force of impact and dynamic load will result anywhere between 135lb.~198lb. which is still way under the yield and tensile strength to produce any necking or plastic deformation.
In a nutshell, the fasteners are stronger than titanium and have a higher load capacity than any leading competitor selling camera straps.Last updated:
Will the locking mechanisms allow the strap to slip and become loose over time or is it securely fitted and locked into place?
After trying out numerous camera straps to determine fault points, weak-points and pain-points, we made sure that this and many other concerns were all addressed in the design of our Universal Camera Strap.
To be more specific, our tessellating paddles and buckles have had unique features built into the designs so as to firmly grip and hold the camera strap in place.
For the buckles, we’ve included teeth on the inner-lower wall of the buckle that makes contact with the strap. We’ve tested and made sure that the strap is easy to feed through the inner workings of the buckle but also to exploit the resting weight of the load on the different baring points of the buckle once the user has locked the tessellating paddles into place to increase pressure and fixation of the strap within the buckle. In addition, we’ve made it so that within the buckle, the clearance or the gap between the outer edges of the camera strap and inner walls of the buckle are just far enough away from one another for movement and easy adjustability of the strap while still causing tension and pressure against the strap if it begins shifting within the buckle anymore than 1/30th of an inch.
For the tessellating paddles, we’ve taken the underbelly of the paddles at their points of contact with the strap and fashioned small and gradual protruding ramps starting on the edges closest to the buckles and then inclining until the opposite edges of the paddles, which when the paddles are locked into place, induce even more pressure on the strap to keep it secure and ensure it never loosens.
In a nutshell, our paddle strap locking mechanism will NOT allow the strap to slip and become loose because it IS a really sturdy and robust mechanism that will stay securely locked in place until the paddles are lifted :)Last updated:
Yes, it does!
We’re making sure that on the sturdy and comfortable grip side, we have the 10-11” long, 1.5mm thick top-grade synthetic neoprene patch that is not only infused into the nylon webbing, but straight stitched around the parameter of the patch to provide a lasting comfort against any dynamic load from any camera setup, albeit a full-frame DSLR with a large lens or a compact camera.Last updated:
Accessory Kit includes:
- small cleaning and maintenance kit
- small nylon waxed cords for tripod mounts and to create easy attachment for the fasteners
- carrying pouch for your camera strapLast updated:
Will the accessory kit be available for purchase separately? If so, any idea what the cost would be?
The Accessory Kit will become available for purchase through our website and only after we've fulfilled for our crowdfunding campaigns and the camera strap is available for purchase on our website.
We’re not exactly sure of the retail price for the Accessory Kit. However, it will be between $15-$30.Last updated:
