Industrial Resin / Projector Modification

Hi Backers,

Hope you are enjoying the weekend! We tested industrial resin from Fun To Do (which turned out to be very strong) for dental applications. This resin could be used for vulcanizing.

This dental model is from Vidal (www.thingiverse.com/thiing:123245). It was printed with XY resolution of 45.5 microns and Z layer thickness of 50 microns. The exposure time was 2.5 seconds, and the dimensions are 64 mm x 49 mm x 12.8 mm. It took 2,675 seconds to print.

 


This model below is for clear aligner application and is provided by Juitang Cho. The size is 80 mm x 57 mm x 26 mm. Resolution is XY: 53 and  Z: 50. Exposure time was 4 seconds, and the printing time was 6,302 seconds. We used Fun To Do's industrial resin for this as well.

 

 

Projector Modification

There are three screws that secure the lens system to the projector body. We used two 0.8 mm spacers for each screw. The gap is sealed with black tape now. The solution to have no gap at all is to customize a big 1.6 mm thick ring spacer with three holes for the screws. We will definitely consider this if the demand is there. We will include a question in the survey we send to our backers.

      @kudo3d +1 on making the lens mod a reality in the shipped model. As many of the updates have shown this modification, and exactly the usage I'm considering at this point, it would be nice to not have to rework the new printer as soon as it is delivered let alone void warranties. Thanks.

      @ Anvil Industry - We actually won't be able to print the spacers. The spacers have to be metal.

      just a thought - could the proposed big 1.6mm spacer with 3 holes be designed as an STL and then printed using the regular supplied resin??

      If the cured subg+ resin is sufficiently heat resistant to go in the projector this would be a very neat and easy fix!

      that said - I would be very happy if you were able to negotiate with the projector suppliers to adjust their warranty so that it covers the rest of the machine even if the lense component has been modified.

      As you guys are so far over your funding goal, it would be neat if you could find a cost effective way to supply the mod part for the projector along with the kit, but the "print your own" option would be a good back up.

      Thanks for the frequent updates! The dental models look great.

      Good suggestion on including the mod parts. Most of the prints you are emphasizing lately were made with the high-res modification. You're clearly making us covet prints which would look this sharp. Personally, I don't think providing instructions for performing a warranty-voiding hack is good enough. At this point, you guys should definitely upgrade the mod into an included accessory, which could be switched out at will, like changing a bit in a power tool.
