A magazine about food and relationships, fragments, intrigue, and movement at all speeds forward and backward.
Hello again! It is time to print the new issue of Saucy Magazine (still reeling from all your incredible support in November, thank you so much) and just like last time, there are new stories, photos, poems, and notes about food and relationships in one indie food magazine. There are 80 pages of new, actually - the largest Saucy yet AND printed at a bigger size, 7.75" x 11" with perfect binding (that's the kind with the glued spine instead of staples) and coated cover.
Since the 2012 Kickstarted holiday issue, Saucy has been invited to and exhibited in London and Los Angeles and Toyko, as well as joining 24 top indie food publications at the 2013 Food Book Fair. The February Issue 5 "Black Valentine" was published, and Saucy was reviewed on Magculture by print expert Andrew Losowsky ("Each issue has a different format, and it plays with your expectations in unusual ways"), mentioned by indie magazine tastemaker Steve Watson of Stack Magazines ("very lovely"), and featured in Paper Magazine's May print article "Ten Magazines Whose Creative Takes On Food Have Us Salivating." In 2013, Founder and Editor Kristen Taylor has traveled to Malaga, Oslo, Paris, Bilbao, and Sydney, writing poems and eating her way through the flaky pastries of the world.
The "Movement" issue was shot in July 2013 on location in Miami, one of the strangest and most beautiful places to think about food in the context of a city. Slick and dangerous, circuitous and sly, the pages of this issue explore the many ways to move through and around this transient hub of markets and money. Locations in this issue include: Vizcaya (a Gatsbyesque estate in Miami), Lincoln Road, Fairchild Gardens, Fruit and Spice Park, Robert Is Here, the Design District, South Beach, Brickell, Calle Ocho, and The Roads.
Our wonderful printer stands ready to print the new issue on a heavy paper stock (Saucy is full of intense colors that pop on nice paper) - we're already through proofing - so we can send YOU a copy of Issue 6 "Movement" in August 2013.
Questions? Thoughts? Want a different reward level? Send a Kickstarter message and we'll make it happen. All Saucy issues are collectible, printed on fantastic paper, and unlike any other food magazine, driven by themes rather than recipes. Saucy is an experiential meditation on food production and consumption.
Thanks for reading this far, and especially for supporting and loving on indie magazines. It means the world to those of us making alternatives to the supermarket glossies.

Saucy has worked with this printer for the past three issues, and we are confident in their ability to print and deliver the issue. All content is finished and proofing is done.
Founder and Editor Kristen Taylor has been teaching for eleven years and eight at the graduate level in addition to teaching food photography through Skillshare. The in-person and online food photo class will be great fun.
For the November 2012 Saucy Kickstarter, all rewards were delivered early or on time to over 300 backers, with individual communication to smooth out mail deliveries and recipe fulfillment.
