We are expanding our model for empowerment to Lima, Peru by starting a new program and creating a limited-edition collection of hats, only available to those that pledge to this kickstarter page. Be among the first to get your hands on these exclusive hats and literally kickstart this program into a sustainable future.
We will be working with marginalized women on the outskirts of Lima in communities called "pueblo jovenes". These squatter towns lack electricity, pumped water, and sewage systems and are filled with vulnerable families that are living without opportunity for employment or education. We have an opportunity to change the future of these neighborhoods by empowering its inhabitants through our unique model of development.
This hat collection features three colorways, each of which is made from a fine alpaca/acrylic yarn blend. They have the exclusive label designated for this kickstarter campaign which so appropriately reads, "limited edition".
Additionally, each product will be hand-signed by the person who made it, so you can know who you are supporting. Their profiles will be available online this Fall so you can learn more about them.
*please note the other amazing rewards for pledges as well :) *
Empowerment is a term we use to communicate the mission of our organization. We seek to see our hat makers holistically cared for in every aspect of their life, in order that they might go on to start their own businesses and/or careers that will support their families for years to come.
Here is an example of what this looks like from our programs in Northern Uganda...

Yes they are! This is a unique opportunity because we generally don't ship internationally outside of the US and Canada. However, you must include an additional $20 to account for the international rates.

This limited collection of hats is made out of an alapaca/acrylic yarn blend (20% alpaca, 80% acrylic). We haven't found them to be itchy at all :)
Any address you would like to us to send items to outside the United States is considered international shipping and you will need to add $20 to your pledge.
