What's this about?
Let's be honest, you don't even have time to read this Kickstarter description. Videos work best, don't you think? We agree. All Things Online Micro-Coaching (ATOM) utilizes micro-learning methodology with videos and short assignments to focus the "busy" you on what you need to:
- Increase your online presence (i.e. managing social media, marketing, and your website yourself)
- Become more efficient and productive; and
- Grow your business (or online brand) with online tools, applications and best practices
In specific terms; maybe you're a writer, a lawyer, a real estate agent, a shop owner, a direct sales representative, looking to start or currently running your own business. At some point you either pay someone to create/manage social media, marketing, email campaigns, your website, calendar, or you learn to do it yourself, and the thought of that is overwhelming.
On top of these simple things, there are hundreds of other applications and tools you could be using to help make your life easier and get you more clients, customers or business. In a nutshell, that's the benefit of ATOM, showing you what you need, curating learning for you, and achieving this knowledge in a short amount of time.
What does this look like?
Sign up, fill out a questionnaire about your knowledge, where you are with your business, your start-up, or building up yourself as a brand, etc, and gain access to the ATOM training platform with curated learning just for you. With a typical subscription you'll receive three month access to:
- Six learning tracks from our fundamentals subject matters (Tools and Applications, Online Basics, Online Marketing, Social Media, Productivity and Professional Skills) geared toward your business or type of brand.
- Three curated learning tracks based on your immediate needs lifted from our questionnaire ( i.e. email efficiency, working remotely, learning PayPal, run a Facebook ad or email campaign).
- A monthly "objective" for you to achieve, broken down into 4 easy to manage weekly assignments.
- A monthly webinar, which will delve deeper into a fundamental subject matter.
Short micro-learning: Each learning track is a series of short micro-videos on a specific online subject matter that you need to know to grow online, become more efficient or increase your online presence (think social media followers, website visitors, etc). ATOM focuses on those running a business or trying to build a brand online, so our actionable steps (assignments) are specific to that need.
Curated learning: For value, we are including curated learning tracks for each user in addition to our basic six fundamentals subject areas. Users fill out a questionnaire at the beginning of the quarter, and we select specific learning tracks from our library based on their immediate needs for their business or brand (every three months, new fundamental and curated tracks are added).
Monthly engagement: To keep you on track, we also provide a monthly objective (such as a learning assignment) that is broken up in weeks, achievable in 15 minutes or less per week, aimed at achieving a specific task - because you are busy and just need to know the goods.
Monthly interaction: Furthermore, every month we will have a monthly webinar where we delve even more into a subject matter. This may include instruction or an interview with a top expert in their field - exclusive to ATOM users only.
Inside each learning track:
Sample learning track breakdown:
Online Skills: Securing Yourself Online
1. We start with the basics, 10-15 min of "Online Security Fundamentals"
2. Then we more into specifics 10-15 min of "Information Security"
3. and a little more specifics in 10-15 "Security and Privacy on the Web"
4. Then we take action, in only 10 min, showing you how to use the free tool LastPass to protect password and sensitive information online.
Quick, to the point, and with clear actionable steps.
Can I just learn what I need to know from YouTube, Udemy or Lynda?
If you are that person who has the time to comb through YouTube all day, or subscribe to numerous training libraries and courses, more power to you. The average cost of a training course at Udemy is $75, and that's just one specific course, usually absorbing 4 hours of your time. Hiring a consultant to instruct you on which classes to take or what to learn averages $200-300 an hour, often with monthly minimums. So the time and cost can really add up.
We don’t want to consider ourselves a traditional training course with a beginning and end, but rather a micro-coach/consultant that comes alongside you every month to curate learning and encourage you in emails to point you in the right direction toward your online needs; someone who reevaluates your needs every quarter and can adjust the learning accordingly.
Who does this help?
We see this as helping those who don't know what to learn, don't know where to begin and don't have the time to seek it out. They are busy running a business, forming a start-up, raising a family, or working a full-time job while trying to achieve their goals.
The learning tracks are a compilation of a licensed video library of 5,000 videos combined with our own micro-videos. These videos and assignments are crafted into our tracks by experts, and often only 10 minutes total in learning time, along with short quizzes, all with the goal of conquering complex subject matters.
Along with the micro-coaching emails, monthly objectives and webinars, we hope to create a community of business owners, solo-preneurs, writers, lawyers, creatives, anybody from any field, who is empowered with knowledge they otherwise would have never sought out and achieved on their busy schedule.

What's the funding for?
The funding is to secure the licensing needed for the training video library ATOM is using to craft many of our learning tracks in order to get started. As a website developer, I can build much of the core website and community features myself, which keeps the funding goal smaller than many larger website projects.
Don't forget to follow us:
In the future:
In the future we hope to partner up with some amazing experts in their field to offer add on "specialty" tracks. For example, if you are a writer, a momprenuer or want to succeed in the blogging universe you would add on this "specialty" for an additional price with its own specific learning and instruction from an expert. If this were to happen, we'll let you know, as it would be an added cost and include its own learning (in addition to ATOM), monthly objective and webinar.
I'm excited to include stretch goals once we get started. I have some key technical features only achievable when certain financial goals reached.
(shh!) Some fun ideas of possible stretch goals to come: Community forum, Building your website with WordPress webinar, and announcements of "specialty" tracks!
Risks and challenges
There are always risks involved, but none of them involve the actual delivery of the learning platform. The build is underway and near complete, I took the financial risk to get started prematurely because I believe in this so much. Depending on the number of backers, the custom selected learning tracks might be delayed a week as we go through all the questionnaires; however, that is the only foreseeable delay at this time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
