About

Gravity Museum is a tabletop display that let’s you compare gravitational force between all eight planets of our Solar system. It transforms theory into tangible experience creating unique way to explore and learn about the amazing Universe.

It is quite certain that most of us wouldn't have the chance to step a foot on any other planet though we all have dreamed about it. Gravity Museum was created so everyone could take a small step into physical Space exploration.

Earth, Jupiter, Venus, Mars, Neptune, Uranus, Mercury and Saturn- all planets of our Solar System have different size, mass and gravitational force on them. We can only wonder how would it feel to actually experience different gravity. Following my passion for Space exploration I set a goal to design an object that could somehow materialize theory and present it in exciting way. I was caught by the idea of creating a tabletop display with gravity comparison between all 8 Solar system planets.

Our mission is to inspire people to discover the Universe and share fascinating approach to the science. We started this jurney with the ''Moondrop'' project and almost 3000 backers joined us. This time we invite you to take even further step into Space exploration.

Clearly we can not change the actual gravity here on Earth. Though using the laws of Physics we have achieved a tangible result that creates an accurate idea of Gravity difference between other planets. The same object would have different weight on other planet due to different gravitational force- this principle is also used in the Gravity Museum.

Each sphere is precisely calculated. They all have equal size but different weight that represents specific planet's gravity. The main unit is the Earth's sphere placed in the middle. Every other sphere precisely shows how would it feel to hold the same Earth's sphere on other planet's surface.

Weight comparison for the same object (sphere) -if brought to various planets.
Weight comparison for the same object (sphere) -if brought to various planets.

For example: Jupiter has much larger gravitational force than Earth. It means that any object placed near Jupiter's surface would be much heavier than the same object on Earth. When seperately holding the Earth and Jupiter spheres you will feel the exact weight difference caused by various gravitational forces on those planets.

With the Mars sphere it is exactly the opposite. Gravity on Mars is about 1/3 that of Earth. In this case you will get precise view on how lighter the object would feel compared to it's weight on Earth. The same principle is used for every Planet Sphere so you will be able to compare all 8 gravitational forces.

It’s important to understand that the kilogram is actually a measurement of the mass and the mass doesn’t change wherever you go in the Universe. It is the weight that varies because of gravity impact to mass.

Our Universe is truly amazing. Almost every day we explore new mind-blowing facts about it and Gravity is one of the most important phenomenons in the Universe. Here is our top 5 list why we believe you would find the Gravity Museum awesome:

1.Gravity Museum tranforms theory into tangible experience- it is unique way to interact with science. We found it much more exciting to actually see and feel the process instead of only hearing theory and numbers.

2. Great way to learn more about Universe- there are so many breath taking discoveries in our world and so much more beyond it.Our hope is thatGravity Museum will initiate people to search, wonder and explore the unknown and share their discoveries with others.

3. Gravity Museum is unique design element that would enhance any space around you and make an interesting conversation piece.

4.Amaze your friends- show them Gravity difference between Earth, Jupiter and other Solar System planets.

5.You love high quality items- There are 17 parts made from Aerospace grade aluminium in every Gravity Museum. Each of them machined with precision up to 0.01 mm.

Most of our inspiration came from lifetime love for Space exploration. Lots of hours were spent on finalizing the design of Gravity Museum. We have put our heart in every shape, dimension and colour to achieve the authentic looks and unique tangible experience.

8 Planets 8 Colours

Each sphere is anodized in different colour that represents specific planet of our Solar System. To make it truly authentic we took actual planet pictures from NASA's archive and generated the most characteristic colour tones.

Base is the Space

The base symbolizes Universe. Precisely machined to firmly hold all eightplanet spheres. It has dark anodized surface with laser engraved names of each planet.

The Glass Shell

Made from dark toned acrylic glass the top shell was inspired by astronout helmets. They use similar shape to allow the wide view and full absorvation of the space.

Gravity Museum is made with the latest cutting edge technology using CNC machining and molding. This method allows us to achieve an outstanding precision and perfect fit between every part. The base and the spheres are crafted from Aerospace grade Aluminium which is super durable. The only exception is the Jupiter sphere which is crafted from stainless steel to achieve the significally heavier weight.

All aluminium parts are anodized for surface protection and design purposes. The weight of each sphere is precisely calculated therefore they are made from two parts that are connected. Since the outside diameters should be equal we needed to variate with the hollow inside of the spheres.

The top shell is molded from toned acrylic glass. The precision is so accurate that it creates satisfying air resistance when connected with the base. Altogether there are 18 different parts in each Gravity Museum - majority of the funds raised will go directly to the high production costs.

Hi Kickstarter friends, i am Kristoph Krisjans and you might know me from my previous Kickstarter projects- Moondrop, Gr2 Spheres and others. Together with my two brothers we have created four successfull campaigns with more than 4000 backers joining us.

We received tons of positive feedback and we are very grateful to everyone who helped us:

In our team everyone is a creator and we truly love what we are doing. This is our passion, our hobby and our job. Kickstarter is amazing platform where we can offer our supporters a great price and unique chance to follow whole manufacturing process.

Risks and challenges

This is our fifth project with CNC machining here on Kickstarter. We have gained a lot of experience and we can surely say that our team is well prepared to ensure the highest quality and fastest delivery time. We have gone through lot of prototyping processes and made a few test runs for larger batch manufacturing. Though there are always some potential challenges to every Kickstarter campaign that may cause small delays, we are confident about project's fulfillment in time and we promise to keep you updated until you get your rewards. Our priority is to make every backer satisfied.
