So close!

We are incredibly close to reaching our goal! At the time of writing, we’re at $196.000, and 97% funded! Things are definitely looking great, and we’re humbled by all your support. Thanks so much for sharing the word and helping us reach our goal!

Now it’s our turn to deliver.

Free playable Alpha of Among the Sleep!

We’ll start by releasing a free playable build of Among the Sleep! Now all of you will be able to try it out for yourself.

Download for PC »    Download for MAC »    Download for Linux »

For those of you on tiers $100 and up, your alpha access this summer will both include a bigger part of the game, and be more polished. In addition, your tiers will include Beta-access when it’s time for that.

Please do keep in mind that this is an early alpha, and does not represent the final quality of the game. After playing, you are also encouraged to provide all your feedback on this page! Also, if you’d like to share a playthrough on Youtube or anything, you’re free to do so.

Regarding Oculus Rift support, we’re working hard to publish this as well! First we’ll publish a stereoscopic video, so that you can experience the sense of scale and depth as fast as possible. We also want to publish the same public alpha we published today, with the test-implementation of Oculus Rift, but this will take us some more time.

We hope you have fun playing :)

Just wondering when the Oculus Rift enabled alpha might be released? I want to play for the first time in VR :)

Wooooo! I'm excited. This is such a wonderful idea, and y'all seem to have the talent and drive to make it something very special.

I'm so happy that you've been funded!

For me on Linux the alpha unfortunately doesn't even start. Right at start it's looking for a Mono config path at ./Among+The+Sleep+public+alpha+Linux/Among The Sleep_Data/Mono/etc which doesn't exist. Details see http://pastebin.com/iTSmUrTJ
No matter if I'm using the 64 Bit or 32 Bit executable. I did re-download the archive in order to be sure that it's not corrupted, but this didn't help. Any idea? Thanks

Hi guys! So glad you got the full funding! I've not jumped too deep into the alpha yet, largely due to cowardliness and waiting till I'm not alone to get really into it. So far, I'm liking the look and feel of the game, it's impressing me just as much as I'd hoped it would. My only real criticism, if you can call it that, is the lack of save function. Also, a couple of issues I've noticed on the Mac (Macbook Pro i7) version is that while the game runs smoothly, the change between applications (specifically in windowed mode) becomes quite slow. Also, in the main menu, the background scene runs very slowly whilst the game itself is fine (on very low). Otherwise, looking very good and I can't really put you at fault considering this is just an alpha and there's plenty to do yet! Bring on December and the full game! Congratulations.

Wahh!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!! We NEED this on the Oculous Rift!!!

Although I really like the idea, I'll admit I was a bit sceptical whether I would be drawn in when actually playing "Among the Sleep". Having played through the Alpha twice now I can only say that I'm a true believer now!
Gimme moar! (Although I should probably let my heart recover from some of the scarier moments first.)

    9. Matt Holland on May 15, 2013

Congrats on meeting your Kickstarter goal!!

I played through the Alpha last night, and I love the atmosphere.... Can't wait to play more! I definitely got chills a few times, even in that short session. Granted, I spook easily, so your mileage may vary! ;-)

Having issues running the alpha on mac os. Not sure if its just me or if others are having this issue. I downloaded it and after running it I just get a black screen and the spinning wheel of death. Congrats again on reaching the goal.

Hey guys! Just played some of the alpha, and so far looks really promising and I'm quite excited to see the finished product! just one thing...

I've got two children under the age of two (yes twins, no, not even close to being identical), and alls I'm saying is, soon as they were able to walk competently... crawling was a snails speed. In this game, this child seems to be crawling as fast as my children can walk (they can "run" even faster) and this child's walk is as fast as my children's crawl (which my children really don't ever do because it is such a slow form of movement). Maybe you all have had contact with children around 2 that were the opposite?

Anyway, of what I've played so far it's the only thing that I've had issues with.

Thanks for making so far what seems to be a great game :)

    20. Jack Chapman on May 14, 2013

Congrats on reaching your goal! Just played the alpha! Very impressed! Can't wait for the full game :D

Woot -- You made it!!! So excited to see this game!

    22. Joe L. Wroten on May 14, 2013

Congratulations to everyone! I'm so incredibly excited!

Unfortunately, my alpha is unplayable. After the intro logo and alpha notice the game hangs at a black screen, then slowly loads the main menu which registers a click only sometimes every 5-10 seconds. I've managed to slowly change every video option to lowest but to no avail. I've also tried the 64bit and 32bit build. Finally I also tried multiple resolutions and window mode.

My specs are Win7 64-bit, AMD Radeon HD 6800, 16GB DDR3, AMD Phenom II X4 840. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

    23. moro on May 14, 2013

That was fun! And creepy! :D There were a couple of times when I didn't want to come out from under the furniture. Played it on Windows 7 64-bit. I wish I could have kept playing!

Didn't work for me on Linux or Windows. Why is it a zip file.

    27. Ari Tomi Stenberg on May 14, 2013

my poorly low laptop hasent power to run this game what i use now now but i seeing so far menus are changed and that seeing babt boby is cool feature. will playing this later my regular pc and feedbacking it. also that song on begin was creepy.

    28. chel on May 14, 2013

Just played 64bit linux version on openSUSE 12.3 on i5-2520M CPU. The game was running fine, very good job!
The only problem was lack of executable flag on "Among The Sleep.x86_64" file. Maybe you should use tar format instead of zip for distribution of linux version.

    29. Margret Storm on May 14, 2013

This was fantastic! Only issue I had was that the W and S buttons worked in reverse at the start, then fixed themselves after I paused and unpaused.

    30. Preston Propes on May 14, 2013

Very fun alpha. Only a few minor things that I found that need fixing. Also sent a long list of suggestions, ideas, etc. Excited for the full game.

    31. Annand Virk on May 14, 2013

Just played the alpha. Going to encourage my friends to try it out as well. I really loved the atmosphere, especially the part when you think someone is trying to come in through the door; I scrambled right underneath the bed. Really chill.

Good alpha. Having grown up with that lullaby was freaking me out even more. As for performance I had this set at 1920x1080 and very high graphics and only suffered minor lag on my laptop (not very high powered).

Thanks for the 32bit version, I appreciate it, just 1k left to go till you are funded so good luck and an early congrats.

    34. David Gander on May 14, 2013

Just shit myself at least 5 times playing it. I hope the rest of the game has the same vibe as the house looks like the darkest area of the game. The video at the end suggests the rest may be quite fantasy themed.

    35. Krillbite Studio Creator on May 14, 2013

Thanks for playing, and all your comments! We have updated the windows-version to work with 32bit systems as well, it can be downloaded from here: https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/amongthesleep/PublicAlpha/PC/Among+The+Sleep+public+alpha+Win32.zip

    38. Ricardo Oliveira on May 14, 2013

Like I said before, I wish I could play this on PS3 as I don't think my old PC will be able to play this. I'm still downloading as we speak. (Cross fingers)
I just wanted to say that you guys are being totally awesome by giving acess to the alpha. And I clicked on your feedback page out of curiosity and its great, I hope it helps you make a better game and I think its great you're listening to your fans. Good luck guys ;)

I just tried to play the Alpha and got an error message about using the wrong version of windows.
Is it not possible to play the game on 32bit systems? If so will this remain the case in the final version?

    46. Rod Gomes on May 14, 2013

Tried to check it out on my 11" Macbook Air (latest model) (connected to a 27" Thunderbolt Display), and the game runs painfully slow. Even at "very low" settings, is this normal?

      Thanks!
