Funding Unsuccessful

This project's funding goal was not reached on December 4, 2012.

Become the most popular Martial Arts stuntman Hollywood has ever known, while learning real Kung Fu techniques and fighting in movies!

That's all folks!

And so we reach the end of our Kickstarter. Here's how things looked when the timer hit zero:

Thank you to all those who pledged at the last minute and to those who increased their pledges to push us all the way to 47%. If nothing else it brought a warm and fuzzy feeling to our hearts, to watch those numbers rise a bit at last.

As for what's next, like we've said in the past, we're now going to have to take a break from all this as we don't have the resources required to keep pushing the project. We do hope this project will one day be a reality one way or another.

Someone once said it's not about the destination it's about the journey and those words ring very true right now. This project was our life for 7 days a week, 24 hours a day for over a year now and while it was a long and hard journey, which didn't end quite where we hoped, we are still happy we embarked on it. And we are especially happy that you joined us for this, its last leg.

Please do stay in touch!

Contest Winners

Of course we haven't forgotten the #BackGamingInnovation contest.

Congratulations to JMexico for achieving the highest score!

Obviously prizes are now unfortunately 'tentative' and most physical rewards probably won't ever see the life of day. But to make up for that we decided that all 4 top scorers win an IMMORTAL digital reward if the game ever gets made.

We were also taken aback by how many people joined in on this over the last few days so we do feel the urge to reward more of you. So we decided that (again if the development of the game ever kicks off) we will grant the non-physical rewards of the INFILTRATOR tier to all contestants scoring over 20 points. These are the following: PerceyBlakeney63, eniek, Nigel Johnson, Jon Evans, GPortes, Shakeymaster, Jack Chiu, Yalena.

So Long And Thanks For The Fish!

Once again, thank you for all the support and ...I guess this is goodbye...

Or is it...

:)

And good luck in your future endeavors of course!

I am very sorry for you and your team Kostas, I really hoped we would get funded somehow.

I am in the camp that says: try it again! Maybe in about a year, and combine it with the oculus rift to offer one of the coolest gaming experiences ever (and keep the ability to play with controller/keyboard!).

That Facebook likes/back ratio is pretty bad, I wonder why?

We got over 9000 pledges, and our Facebook page only passed 1000 likes in the last couple weeks.

Flipping economy and reserved brits.. If only i could use my wing Chun some how to have aided this. But i would probably have ended up in jail.

      all the best

Thanks for the words Jonathan and as for relaunching, it's a valid point, but realistically I will have to repoint you to my earlier post (5 posts down). It's a thought (and a tempting one at that), but realistically after risking so much on this attempt we now don't have the capacity to go out on a limb again any time soon (even if we wanted to), with such an underwhelming response to our first attempt for a "safety net".

    6. Creator Jonathan Evans on December 5, 2012

I'm gutted for you Kostas, it's such a shame this didn't impact in the way it needed to quickly enough... Is it not possible to rerun the Kickstart game knowing what we now know? Surely a second attempt is viable, maybe launched in the US like you previously mentioned. I have no idea how much it cost to run the Campaign so if it's not as easy as that them fair enough. But who says you only get one chance?

      Please don't give up dream,

    7. Creator Kostas on December 5, 2012

@Jerel: No, the game is far from ready to reach gamers' hands I am afraid. But at the same time, as you can see from our videos, it's a lot further developed than other Kickstarter projects which reached their funding goals within hours (sorry! had to get that out of my system ;))

    8. Creator Jerel Davis on December 5, 2012

Do you have enough of the game developed to just release what you have as a mini version, and see if enough people buy it to continue development?

    9. Creator Joseph Lormand on December 5, 2012

Yes, even with 'Average Pledge Per Backer: $176' it's just not enough when the number of backers is so low. Do not let this tragedy plague your mind with doubt. This is definitely something to be resurrected in the future.

      Also, +1 to pre-orders!

      Hey Jmexio/Konstantinos

Yup, there's many theories as to what happened. I touched on some of them here (in an effort to analyse the situation for both the benefit of our backers as well as future Kickstarters and what actually happened was I fell victim to some fun trolling! :)):

      http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-11-28-failing-kung-fu-superstar-kickstarter-proves-hardcore-gamers-hatred-for-motion-control

However apart from all the things I mention in that article (press indifference, kinect negativity, KFS: Origin confusion, £/$, inability to target consoles with first release, appealing to gamers desire for innovation rather than nostalgia), there's also something else that we just can't ignore:

      Out of the

22,000 people who Like our Facebook page
25,000 people who watched our Kickstarter video
5,000 people who Liked the Kickstarter page

      only 534 pledged

    11. Creator Juan Miguel Expósito on December 5, 2012

I'm with Konstantinos, I'll preorder the minute you give us the chance. It's not THAT easy, of course, but please consider that option too :)

    12. Creator Juan Miguel Expósito on December 5, 2012

This is REALLY sad... Please please please don't give up. I know it must be hard right now, but I think you have a killer concept (I'd buy a Kinect just for this), an awesome reward structure for pledges, some really fantastic footage, and very intriguing tech/ideas.

I'm sure you must have ideas as to what happened, but maybe it's also just a case of unlucky timing... You surely must look for other things now, but maybe in 6-10 months? I sure hope so!!

      Best of luck with everything,
      Juan Miguel (jmexio)

Maybe setup a page for pre-orders now! :)
