About this project
WHO IS KOSHA DILLZ? WHAT HAS HE DONE?
The evolution of my career has been a long, grinding, never-ending journey in pursuit of success and happiness. When I first began rapping I was only 17. Now at the age of 31, my career is just beginning to take off, and for the past few years I have been documenting it.
I have won Summer Jam rap battles, become a video game character in NBA 2k11, played SXSW 5 times as an official artist, performed at Rock The Bells and Coachella, and toured the entire USA numerous times. I even had my song placed in a Super Bowl commercial. I have slept in McDonalds in Berlin, in my car in about every state in America, been deported from the UK, got stranded in Greece when my passport got stolen....
If you can only imagine, the stories are endless but my $$$ is not.
WHAT I WILL DO WITH THE MONEY I RAISE?
$1000 goes to Darah off the old work and current work she'll be doing.
$1000-2000 in flights for us to travel (plus snacks at airport) to SXSW and some other tour dates that are necessary for us to be at.
$5000 will be for an editor to work on perfecting storyline, lighting and editing down what has been 100's of hours of footage myself and Darah are already working on.
EXYRA CASH All the other money extra might go to me to buy a few cans of tuna and pay a phone bill or two.
Sure I could use 100 grand, but I'll be good with 8k for now.'
Hopefully from the shows we'll be doing we'll have enough money to enter it into film festivals once its done in the summer!
Myself and co-director/producer Darah Golub spoke about my journey and we both agreed that it was a non-stop HUSTLE. Even after walking the red carpet as the first Jewish artist to ever wore a kippah at the BET Hip Hop Awards rapping in Hebrew, I felt unappreciated and unaccomplished! How? Camera's were flashing, people were asking, I was still rapping. I was still hustling to the people there. I can't stop.
My stories are endless....
I stepped on Young Jeezy's shoes, almost got into a fight with one of 2 Chainz henchman for trying to steal my seat, and than partied with rappers I idolize the rest of the night. Then I returned to LA to play a synagogue show and rap for youth groups who didn't even know I was a rapper.
I have earned the moniker and saying that "Kosha Dillz is Everywhere" - its just that most of the world doesn't know that yet. And that is where this Kickstarter and you come in to play!
Since it's all about the hustle and the stories that go along with it - I'll rap in your house, at your bar mitzvah, make you a custom answering machine message, send you everything Kosha Dillz you can think of, and even help you achieve your dreams. All I need you to do is help me achieve mine. There are 26 funding rewards to choose from, so feel free to indulge in the art of giving.
I have enclosed some links below so you can see some of our progress on the film to date, as well as some key links like wikipedia so you can see my history.
Thank you for even reading this far. Please know that anything you are willing to give, even if that is just sharing this Kickstarter with your friends, is greatly appreciated and that you'll forever be considered a member of Team Kosha. If we can achieve my funding goal together - we will all win!
Risks and challenges
Completing this project in due time is not without obstacles, but I see a great opportunity to move forward on completing the film project and fulfilling the other rewards once we reach our kickstarter goal.
Merchandise to fulfill rewards benefits has already been ordered, my live performance is as good as its even been and I've begun consulting with multiple editors concerning the documentary. There is enough time to reorder or reprint merchandise if there are any errors in images, printing or size. DJs and bands are only a phone call or e-mail away for any backer that orders a performance or recording - and I have backup artists to my backups if needed. Completing the documentary presents the most challenges and potential for setbacks - but thankfully my manager has produced a documentary before and I've got a few good people on my team to help us navigate through the hustle to happiness.
The largest obstacle to completing the documentary has been employing an editor steadily to narrow down the footage to tell a compelling story. With the funds generated from Kickstarter and new music being released to provide additional supplemental income, I expect to have sufficient funds to attract a qualified, professional and experienced editor to turn the volumes of footage into an epic story of HUSTLE. I am taking a prolonged hiatus from touring until March - so I will have all of February to assess existing footage, secure the editor(s) and shoot additional spots and interviews to aid the story line. While we hope to debut a new extended cut of the documentary in SXSW 2013, I do not expect a completed final cut until sometime in Summer 2013. That said - the more funding we can obtain through Kickstarter the higher the likelihood of completing the documentary project sooner.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Ahah! Did you know you that kickstarter only charges your credit/debit card after February 4th? If we don't make the 8k goal, your card will never be charged! That's not what we're hoping for of course, but don't worry about your finances in the immediate future. You WILL NOT be charged until after the campaign is finished/
Of course I will! I wouldn't miss your bar/bat-mitzvah for the world. I surely wouldn't miss your little girlfriends Quincenera either. Wait...you guys are kinda young to be using credit cards...did you ask your parents for these or did you just charge them $3500 dollars? Awesome!!
Honestly if it was up to me I'd rap for your dog for free but manager won't let me. But yes, I'll take him/her for a walk and all that. I'll even bag up the poo.
No thats wrong! I quit smoking ciggs in july of 2007 and I am totally against electronic smoking lol. I do not smoke any funny green stuff but $420 is a catchy number! (and a good deal might I add)
I will give you personal coaching sessions on how to re conquer your life or SXSW or any other obstacle you are facing, such as relationships, obsessions, fears...etc.
The reason why we did this kickstarter is to help create more content for the film during the high points of my career. It'd be horrible to not see it come to fruition based on lack of resources. I'm hoping you'd like to get involved. So far its all been self-funded!
Co-executive - $1500 - You are really helping us produce this. $1500 helps us go to locations to do more filming like tours and SXSW/ SUNDANCE etc.
Executive -$2500 - Hello MS./MR. Executive Producer! Congratulations and welcome to the documentary movie business! You are totally making stuff happen for us right now. This will make a lot of things happen all over the world and in the editing room.
Presenting credit - $8000 - although this film has cost us way more time and $$ than $8,000 we still think you deserve the presenter credit of this film. The content to us is priceless and you have taken a chance on producing happiness!!
