As Seen In...

______________________________________________________________
KOR is a small company created by Eric Barnes and Paul Shustak to celebrate and treasure water through a unique and design-centric line of "hydration vessels."
We searched high and low for a filtered bottle that was beautiful, easy to use and a pleasure to drink from, but we couldn’t find one. So we decided to make our own. After 18 months of brainstorming, sketching, prototyping and generally obsessing over every detail, we’ve found the answer. We call it Nava. We think you'll call it "awesome"!
Why Nava?

If you're like many people we know, you probably feel like you're being held hostage by bottled water. You know it's bad for the planet (and your wallet), but you continue to buy it because there aren't any truly convenient alternatives. With Nava, our goal was to meet bottled water on its own terms by creating a stylish, convenient alternative that would encourage people to embrace the tap.
The Design

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WATER BOTTLE EVER?
Our first design requirement for Nava was to make it look beautiful. After all, we can't expect you to break the bottled water habit if you aren't excited to take Nava wherever you go.
Features & Benefits

HANDS- FREE AND SPLASH-PROOF
Nava features a hands-free push-button cap that opens with a click. This design is ideal for driving, working out or other situations where your hands are tied up and you want quick, splash free hydration. Nava's cap is also hinged, so it’s impossible to lose.

ERGONOMIC MOUTHPIECE
We also obsessed over the design of Nava's mouthpiece. It had to feel great on your lips and provide excellent water flow. After testing over a dozen prototypes, we developed a design unlike anything on the market. Most importantly, people love drinking from it.

NATURE’S BEST WATER FILTER: COCONUT SHELL
Nava's filter is made from pure coconut shells. After harvesting, the shells are converted to activated carbon using a proprietary process that minimizes greenhouse gas emissions. Coconut shells are widely recognized as the most effective material for carbon filtration. Unlike coal from underground, which takes millions of years to form and may contain heavy metals, coconut shells are a renewable and health-safe resource. Nava's filter has been independently tested to exceed NSF 42 standards for chlorine taste and odor removal.

OPTIMIZED WATER FLOW FOR EASY SIPPING
We carefully designed Nava's filter and filter housing to optimize water flow. Unlike other bottles, drinking from Nava doesn't require biting, squeezing, or excessive sucking. Simply place your mouth on the ergonomic mouthpiece and sip naturally as you would from a straw.

A JOY TO HOLD
Nava's soft-grip ergonomic handle makes carrying a breeze.

ENJOY SMOOTH LANDINGS
Nava has cushioned base that protects furniture and prevents slipping.

SAVE THE PLANET, SAVE YOUR MONEY
Nava's filter has been tested to last for at least 40 gallons, or 220 refills. This means one Nava filter will last about three months. During this time, you will prevent approximately 300 disposable bottles from being manufactured, transported and disposed of. You will also save about $300 on bottled water purchases.

REPLACEMENT FILTERS DELIVERED TO YOUR HOME
Nava is the first water bottle with its own filter subscription service. Sign up online to get filters delivered straight to your door. Never forget to replace your filter again.

PROTECTS YOU FROM GERMS AND DIRT
Most bottles force you to put your lips on an exposed surface, but the Nava's cap design completely protects the mouthpiece when not in use.

YOUR HEALTH COMES FIRST
Health safety was of critical importance to us. That's why Nava is made from BPA-free Tritan™ and FDA-grade silicone.
About the Name
The name, “Nava” was inspired by one of the world’s most important wetland reserves: Laguna de la Nava de Fuentes, located in Spain. Not only did we love the sound of that word, but wetlands are truly the water filters of our planet. This is because the vegetation within them absorbs pollutants before they can enter our watersheds.

Gooooal! Now, Let's Stretch..
Thanks to YOU, our awesome Kickstarter supporters, we hit our goal in 3 days! So now, let's have some fun -- how far can we make our message of sustainable hydration go? We created a few exciting stretch goals (rewards that become available once we reach a certain amount of funding). You can also help us by spreading the word with our share page -- thanks again!

Who We Are
Thirty years ago bottled water barely existed as an industry. People were fine with water from their old familiar friend: the tap. Carrying around a disposable bottle – let alone one shipped from Fiji or Norway – would have seemed bizarre. Fast-forward to today and we accept this behavior as normal. In fact, last year Americans spent about 10 billion dollars on bottled water and disposed of 20 billion bottles. And only about 25% of these were recycled!
So how did we get here? And more importantly, how can we turn back the clock? In 2006 we started asking the same questions. Our answer was to start a company with the mission of making sustainable hydration the “new normal." We decided to meet bottled water on its own terms by creating reusable bottles with sex appeal and cool features. We also choose to raise awareness and funding for global water issues by donating a portion of each sale to charities and working with them to help educate the public.
Since then our little startup, has released a series of obsessively designed reusables. But while we have inspired many to “embrace the tap,” far too many continue their bottled water habit. So about two years ago we decided to double down and create our “bottled water killer” – a filtering bottle so insanely great that people would take it everywhere. Thus was born the Nava!

Why Kickstarter?
Like a lot of small companies that are obsessed with quality, we aren’t likely to show up at your local Walmart anytime soon. And big retail is a difficult place to showcase a product like Nava because it has such a rich and complex story (it would be great if our Kickstarter video played when a shopper pulled a Nava off the shelf, but this is still probably a few years off).
So that’s why we are going direct to YOU. While we don’t have a big marketing and PR budget (zero actually), we do think our story is pretty compelling. And Kickstarter provides the perfect environment for storytelling. We envision our campaign as an event that everyone can rally around in an environment where Nava's story isn’t simply an afterthought – it’s the main event.
After spending the past 18 months researching, designing, prototyping, testing and iterating, Nava is almost a reality. Our factory is ready to start production, but we must first complete the tooling and fund our first order. While we have had past success creating reusable bottles, Nava is our biggest challenge yet. With your help, we are confident that we will deliver an amazing product that will encourage people to act more sustainably. Please make a pledge today, and then help us spread the word about Nava.
Risks and challenges
We believe the risks involved with brining Nava to market are minimal at this stage:
First, we are highly experienced in the design and manufacturing of high-performance water bottles, having already launched four product lines.
Second, Nava is already quite far along in the production process. In fact, several of the tools have already been built, allowing us to successfully test Nava with many production parts in place.
The main risk stems from the fact that Nava is our first filtered bottle (and trust us, filter technology isn't for the faint of heart). However, we are fortunate to be working closely with an industry-leading filtration partner and our filter has already been independently tested to meet NSF standards.
Our primary remaining challenge is to make sure all parts fit with extreme precision in order to optimize usability and performance. Currently, we have some fine-tuning to do in this area, but do not anticipate any major roadblocks.
We have extensive experience with freight logistics and shipping of both domestic and international orders. We do not see fulfillment as a major risk in this project.
We estimate Nava will begin shipping in August and are excited to offer our loyal backers the first Navas born from these efforts!
