Thank you for taking a second to check out my project. I'm releasing my 6th studio album and 1st book of short stories! Woohoo!
My brand-new self-titled album is the result of an exciting two-year collaboration between eclectic Nashville producer Tim Lauer and me. It includes fan favorites like "My Little Life," plus songs you've never heard before (until you watched that video up there.)
Unlike my past efforts which mainly consisted of making the record myself and then having a local CD release party and calling it good, this time we're going to do it right. We're hiring a team of people to get this record out there and give these songs the chance they deserve. In the past, this is what a record label would do, but you may have read somewhere that this is a new era where artists are taking those responsibilities on themselves. I'm perfectly happy to do so!
We're already working with a team in Nashville to set the stage for a proper 2014 release, but we need to put together the money to pay that team.
- Publicist - $6500
- Radio Promoter - $4000
- Vinyl Manufacturing - $2000
- Book Manufacturing- $1000
- Video Budget- $1000
- Kickstarter's take - $1500
It's a bold goal I admit, but we've been through some things already together and I'm pretty confident we can see it through.
What you can do:
- Check out the "THANK YOU PACKAGES" & pick your favorite! --> Choose from signed copies of the new CD, T-Shirts, skype sessions, private concerts, personalized songs, limited edition packages and more.
- HELP SPREAD THE WORD through Facebook, Twitter, blogs, email, texts, Pinterest... Your word and enthusiasm will be hugely helpful in making this project possible!
Every pledge is truly instrumental in helping me get to my goal of $16,000. No pledge is too small! You probably already know this, but Kickstarter has an all-or-nothing model, which means that if you pledge and at the end of the campaign I don't reach my goal, then no one's card is charged...but let's not even go there, I know we can do this!
If we exceed the goal then I can do even more awesome things - like bring someone out on tour with me (which I would LOVE), find new quirky merch, and make cooler videos. A little $ goes a long way when I make videos because I do all the directing and editing myself. The sky is the limit! (Yes, I am wearing a cape as I write this.)
About the book - some of you might be familiar with my short stories. I've been writing them for more than 15 years. Originally, I posted them on my website and later, my Facebook page. I've written more than 60 stories, and I feel like it's time to collect a few of them into a small volume of 150 or so pages. I'm picking the best 20 or so - from my weird times out on the road to the lean lonely years when I wasn't touring very much to fond reminiscences of my first piano teacher - all different kinds of stories. I'm excited to share them.
An album and a book, that's what I'm up to. Thank you for taking the time to read this! I hope I see you very soon.
Risks and challenges
Fortunately the actual CD is already made.
The book is not, but I've already picked out the service (Lulu.com) and template and have even formatted the book via pdf as instructed so we are very close there. Everything else is made, except for the fan-generated songs.
