Hi everyone, my name is Maciek Jozefowicz. I am an artist, illustrator, designer and explorer. Not a physical explorer but a creative explorer. You can check out my explorations on my website at http://www.konokopia.com .
I am also the creator of Mesa.
What is Mesa?
Mesa is a maze puzzle poster inspired by the great adventure playgrounds of the sixties and early seventies. It is also inspired by maps and mazes and old fashioned Disney illustration. Mesa is a maze landscape treasure map. It is both a puzzle game and a piece of art.
I originally created the draft drawing of Mesa about seven years ago. It is one of my maze masterpieces. Or at least, it will be if it gets the funding.
Why the Kickstarter Campaign?
I've had a hand-full of people show interest in this piece and wanted me to complete the work. But I need the support of more than a handful of people to be able to complete this work.
So, I am running this Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds that will allow me to finish Mesa and to manufacture it. I am also running this Kickstarter campaign to find if there is any interest in this product. There is no point in creating and manufacturing something nobody wants. While I am not a "tree-hugger", I love nature and I love trees and I don't see any sense in destroying either without a good reason.
But once I have the funding, I will make MesaMaze into a maze masterpiece with hundreds of paths and hundreds of fun characters and hundreds of hidden objects that you and your children will love exploring and coloring. This will be a very large maze puzzle treasure map.
MesaMaze × 3: (1) Coloring Poster, (2) Full-color Art Poster, (3) Two-sided Treasure Map
There will be three versions of the MesaMaze. One will be a black and white version which you will be able to color in as you solve the puzzle. Another will be a full color version that will have enhanced elements that will allow you to play the poster like a board game. Finally, the third will be a full-color, foldable MesaMaze Treasure Map. The Treasure Map will be two sided. It will have a different maze on each side and the mazes will be connected with two or three wells.
I will create the black and white version of MesaMaze poster on paper with pen and brush and ink. It will be printed as a black and white poster. A VERY LARGE poster, 48×36", that it will give you and your kids week if not months of fun. Because of the size, your whole family will be able to sit around it and color it together.
The full color version will be created from the black and white drawing. The ink drawing will be colored digitally. I want the full color Mesa to be a frame-able work of art.
I also want the full color Mesa to be a game board. The game-play of the MesaMaze board game is not just about getting to the end first. The game play incorporates the Mesa cards (see below). As players explore the land of Mesa, they make alliances and grow their "army" of characters (the cards) in order to become the dominant power and gain control of the land.
The cards/allies that you collect while exploring Mesa becomes your army that you use to overcome your opponents.
But wait! There is more...
Mesa Cards With Your Kid's Caricature
In addition to the poster, you can also get the Mesa cards which depict the various characters that I will put into the maze poster. The Mesa deck of playing cards is my original card design for which I am developing 12 original games. The instructions for the games will be available on my website.
All the crazy creatures that will be part of the Mesa cards will be also available as free downloads for your kids to color.
Finally, if you want to treat your child or yourself or someone you love to a special gift, there is the special reward of having a caricature made into a Mesa character and the Mesa playing card. I can not only make a caricature of whoever you would like but I can create that caricature on whatever type of character you would like.
I can make you or your child a princess, a king, a vampire, a superhero, a frog, a one-eyed pirate, a knight, a monster. Whatever you want. And the character card will have a unique set of attributes/powers like no other character.

Mazes Galore: Additional Free Stuff for Reaching Stretch Goals
If you love mazes or if you know people who do, I've got a lot of them to offer as free additional bonus for reaching certain goals. These will all be in the form of free PDFs added to every reward. The more funding the campaign receives, the more maze puzzle everyone will get. And these are some extraordinary mazes. Stuff no-one has ever created before. Mazes of unusual format (large posters, scroll), mazes of unusual styles, mazes for multiple players, etc.
The great thing about the free stuff is that because they are PDFs they will all be available within two weeks after this campaign ends. I will simply post them on my website and you will be able to download them at any time. So you will have plenty of puzzle games to enjoy while your waiting for the MesaMaze poster and the Mesa cards.
Here are the goals and the rewards for reaching them (you can check out the various maze puzzle types at bottom and on my website). I should first say that the first thing that everyone will get when we reach the funding goal is the PDF of the Mesa rough draft poster. This is something that I don't want to wait until after the campaign. I would like to do it during it so that everyone can see the draft and give me suggestions of how to improve the work and what things to add to make the final work rich and dense and fun. So on to the goals:
Risks and challenges
All of you are probably wondering whether I can deliver all this stuff. There is a lot of stuff: the cards, the large poster, the caricatures. (The free mazes are mostly done or will be done within two weeks after the end of the campaign, so that is not a problem).
I want to make this my maze masterpiece, so yes, I can and will deliver.
The main challenge of this project is artistic. It lies in the creation of a beautiful puzzle and beautiful art. Compared to that, everything else is merely a petty obstacle waiting to be crossed.
I have a number of manufacturers who can print the poster of this size. It is only a matter of creating the finished art and placing the order. I also have the manufacturers for the cards.
I have experience with shipping and I know where to get the necessary shipping materials. Depending on how many backers there will be, I will either ship everything myself or hire help in necessary.
I expect that the drawing of the MesaMaze will take about three weeks and the coloring about three more weeks. The re-drawing and coloring of the 72 Mesa characters for the cards will take about two months.
I am ready to go. All I need is the inspiration that comes from lots of support and a successful funding of a project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
