THANK YOU! WE'VE HIT OUR REACH GOAL!
Now that we've raised $120,000, we'll commission a beautiful mural dedicated to the People & History of Oakland as well as our Kickstarter backers!
One of the coordinators will be our friend Miranda Bergman, who was also one of the artists who painted the historic mural at the Women's Building in San Francisco:
IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO BACK THE CAMPAIGN:
Backers of $60 or more get a HUB Oakland T-shirt! Some higher levels also get a limited edition hoodie.

WHAT IS HUB OAKLAND?
HUB is Where Change Goes to Work
Hub Oakland is equal parts inspiring co-working space, entrepreneurial incubator and community of socially engaged people. Located in the heart of one of the coolest cities in the world, we cultivate, support and connect purpose- driven people as they pioneer solutions for a sustainable and equitable world.
We are locally owned by Oakland residents, while connected to a growing network of more than 50 Hubs across the globe! Come join our community of startups and nonprofits who are changing the world.
We Don't Just Work Together, We Grow Together
Members work from Hub Oakland, attend and produce events, run their own bootcamps, exchange ideas, access funding and mentorship, find co-conspirators and partners, participate in social networks, present their artistic expression, build campaigns, launch companies, protype the future.... all within a member-driven, hosted environment dedicated to accelerating possibilities for a better world.
Hub Oakland will be located in the heart of Uptown Oakland on Broadway between 23rd and 24th Streets. Oakland’s thriving historic Uptown/Downtown Broadway corridor is home to an eclectic mix of entertainment venues that include trendy restaurants, art galleries, the beautifully renovated Fox Theater and nightclubs. Hub Oakland will also be located in the heart of the world class Art Murmur near the 19th Street BART station.
We are excited to be working with gardnerDESIGNlab in the design of the space and Flynn Architecture. Our 16,000 square foot space will include: dedicated offices, collaborative space, open quiet space, conference rooms, team rooms, beautiful mezzanine, full kitchen, art gallery, meditation & yoga space.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING:
HOW WILL THE FUNDS BE SPENT?
We have already raised $700K, but we need another $100K to cover the rest of the substantial construction costs (mezzanine buildout, architect fees, building permits, etc.)
But if we raise even more than $100K, we can make the space even more beautiful!
For $120K: we'll create a stunning mural on our wall outside, with the theme sourced from the community and voted on by our backers!
For $135: we'll also create a lovely parklet out front!
WHO ARE WE?
Our team is entrepreneurial, experienced, and diverse.
TO OUR FRIENDS: THANK YOU!
We wouldn't be able to do this without our community. The following organizations are doing great work, so please give them your support!
Risks and challenges
The biggest risk we face is an extended delay in opening our space. We are currently looking at an October grand opening, but if the construction timeline slips, we could be opening our doors right smack in middle of the holiday season when people are winding down from a year of hard work to save the world. This would cut into our revenues at a time when we need to be ramping up.
To hedge against this possibility, we are opening a small temporary location (at 1423 Broadway, starting in May) to grow a critical mass of members and supporters who will move with us when our new space is ready.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
