For years, we've been seeing little Christian comic books everywhere—they get handed to you on the street, they're left at bus-stops, laundromats, schools, etc. These comics, disturbingly designed for children, tell stories about people getting saved by Jesus, or graphically burning in eternal hell-fire if they aren't converted. They vilify science, promote homophobia and other kinds of intolerance, and endorse an extreme Christian fundamentalist version of reality. So we had the idea of making our own comics to promote the opposite—rational thought, tolerance, and humor.
Our comics are at times purely satirical and at other times more earnest, but with all of them we strive to challenge dogmas and promote critical thinking.
We've completed four comics so far and our fifth is in the final stages of being illustrated. Future comics will poke fun at intelligent design, examine the Bible's stance on gay rights, question the psychologically damaging effects of teaching children about Hell as a literal place, and explore many other ideas that have been fertile ground for religious dogma and skeptical query.
Our goal is to raise enough money to print 10,000 copies of the first five issues. When we have these printed, we will distribute them publicly in the same manner that the Christian comics are spread around, in hopes that perhaps some people may even mistake them for the others, and thereby expose themselves to arguments they would not otherwise consider. We will also make them available to order online so people around the world can help us to spread the GODLESS word.
If we exceed our goal amount, we will use the surplus to print even more comics and increase our distribution. Since we are going to continue writing and printing new issues indefinitely, all additional funds will be used to support the perpetuation of this project. We have high ambitions for the future of GODLESS COMICS, including inviting comedians, writers, philosophers, scientists, artists, and other public figures to collaborate with us on new stories, taking them to international conventions, and eventually compiling our comics into hardcover books.
We sincerely hope our comics provoke laughter as well as discussion in a world that seems to need a whole lot more of both.
Thanks everyone for your support!
Cheers and onward,

Risks and challenges
Once we receive the financial support needed to pay for the initial printing, the biggest challenge we will face will be with publicizing, distribution, and ensuring the continued production of new comics. Two of the members of GODLESS COMICS, Nate Jordon and Kona Morris, both have experience running small literary presses (monkeypuzzlepress.com and fastforwardpress.org), so we are aware of the complications involved with being a new business trying to gain visibility in the world. The solution for such a challenge is established in motivation, commitment, and audacity, and we are confident that we are brimming with all three. With the support of our backers on Kickstarter, there will be nothing to stop us from seeing this project succeed and grow.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
