Frequently Asked Questions
Hey, everyone! I wanted to provide some more insight into the situation. We have had direct contact with more than a single individual on the inclusion of these specific people. The family themselves has rallied against the use of their ancestor's legacy in prior situations. The primary point was the notion that these two men, who fought to keep what was theirs and that lost, would participate in the very aspects of the society they opposed.
Our initial intention to include these two characters was to create the opportunity for discussion about this aspect of the era, without judgment, without confrontation. But when the direct descendants of these individuals ask you to consider how this is perceived from their vantage, that it portrays them in an inaccurate light, and that it, in a fashion, betrays their stories as individuals and people... well, we couldn't help but listen.
This has nothing to do with making a politically correct maneuver to appease the few people that mentioned their opinions publicly. Rather, we have a unique opportunity to listen, to make a choice, and to help honor the very memory of these incredible individuals, which was our intention from the onset.
The Native Americans we have selected above better encompass our aims and the confines of the game's theme, doing so in a way that does not stray into possible offense. We understand, for some, this decision may feel unnecessary, but nonetheless we have decided to do what we feel is not only the best for the game, but the most respectable for the people represented within the game.
Thank you all for your understanding and support. Decisions like this are never easy. The beauty of Kickstarter is in being able to share your ideas and have the opportunity to consider making changes that could later affect things. This was never an easy topic to broach, but we have done our absolute best to approach it with care and decency.

The pledge reward levels state that 250 backers are needed for French translation to be made available. How, exactly, does this work? What happens if we do not reach 250 backers of the French translation?
If we reach a total of 250 backers of the LEGENDES DE L'OUEST, LEGENDAIRE, and TAPIS levels (combined), the base game and all unlocked stretch goals (the Fistful of Extras expansion) will be translated into French. If we reach a total of 250 backers at the LEGENDAIRE and TAPIS levels, the expansion (the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly) will be translated into French as well.
In short, if all 250 backers who would like French translation backed at the LEGENDAIRE level, everything will be translated into French.
If we fail to reach 250 French pledges, you'll be offered your choice of an English-language edition of the game or a refund.
Last updated:

Regarding the goals, this reply is from our lead developer Travis R. Chance:
"This is where I strongly disagree with Richard. These goals are very tied to how each character is designed. Further, they largely reinforce theme and history for each character. Then, of course, each character's goals are balanced in such a way that they are fair and can't be done all at once, which is hard to ensure with a random stack.
Hyper specificity on goals would not be good for the game. The example given was owning all three guns. If I was a character that wasn't designed to be fighty, this means I am spending much of my game and resources to complete a goal. This would certainly lead to players losing, being sent on fool's errands, etc. Narrowing goals to things like buying a Whiskey and moving into a space just are pretty easy to accomplish for a potential 3LP (which in the short game is 20% of your total points). Also, don't want to force people into paths in the game. Yes, some characters start on a path, but you can abandon that path. Forcing a player to pursue something centric to a specific path is very against the spirit of the game.
Lastly, there just aren't a lot of meaningful ways to approach goals that don't get too specific OR redundant. Trust me, we had about 40 different goals at one point, but we narrowed them down to the best. The goals are meant to provide direction in a game with many options."Last updated:
While the 2 player version of the game introduces an AI system to the game a lot of the location actions in the game require someone to make thoughtful decisions for the game to interesting. We’ve built in a lot of decisions for players to make even when they’re representing NPC’s. Without a second player to act as an antagonist the game loses the harshness that legends of the west would’ve had to endure.Last updated:
