Day Five: designer diary & more goals unlocked!

Posted by Kolossal Games (Creator)

Good Saturday, everyone! Quick update today, so strap in!

Touko Tahkokallio, the brilliant mind behind Eclipse, has written a very detailed post on boardgamegeek about Second Dawn. We cannot encourage fans enough to take a moment and read these insights by clicking here. Nothing cooler than hearing the thoughts of the designer regarding such a massive undertaking.

Since last we updated you, even more content was unlocked--lots and lots of plastic!

First up, the Guardian tokens are now ships! These brand new sculpts bring some life to the aliens they represent! Four ships in total!

After this, you managed to unlock 10, that's right, 10 monolith minis. These will replace the tokens in the game, adding a tremendous amount of table presence to the game!

This morning we crossed over our third goal, a new sector hex that will be added to Worlds Afar

We also have spoiled a few new goals on the horizon!

Speaking of Worlds Afar, we have updated the campaign page to better reflect what backers have unlocked and in which release it resides. Do take a look and let us know. This not only shows where the goals will end up but helps to identify which goals are in fact brand new content to enjoy.

Thank you for the ongoing feedback on shipping. We have added new pledge levels that for the regions with updated pricing. The pledge level says "Updated Shipping" in the title. Please be sure to switch your pledge over if you are in one of the regions mentioned in this update. We have since added Vietnam ($38) and are working on more such as Norway.

That's all for today, backers! Great work and we are so very happy with the response to the last update! We will continue to listen and apply where possible!

Have a great Saturday,

It looks like the monolith minis are a little too narrow to be the proper 1:4:9 ratio! (Looks closer to 1:3:9 from the render above.) Is this just a trick of the camera work, or have you deliberately decided to break from your source material?

How about 4 sided dice add-on for those who want to decrease luck impact in battles. There was quite a lot of discussion on bgg site of original Eclipse on this topic.

I played a LOT of Master of Orion 1&2 in my younger years. I’ve always loved the 4x genre and never knew there was a board game that modeled it. I picked this up in hopes that it is the physical manifestation of that digital cocaine I was addicted to in my youth. 😏 How similar are they, I feel compelled to ask?

Those campaign page changes are very good. Well done! I can still see the occasional person new to the campaign asking if the worlds afar is something in addition to the stuff pictured below it just because of how that box image is kind of just floating there. Maybe some significantly explicit explanation: ALL PACKAGED IN THE STRETCH GOAL BOX TITLED ‘WORLDS AFAR’!

You guys are doing a great job. Keep it up.

The designer notes are fantastic! Let's be honest I was all in immediately. Loving the playmat addon (I have one but its getting old and worn) and please don't forget the extra dice addon!

I highly recommend to read the Designer Diary Touko Tahkokallio. He delivered a lot of insight and information I was not aware of.

      Thank you for that!!

Happy you are looking into shipping for Norway. Thank you for the update.

Working on Norway? I do like the sound of that! :)
