This Is The DJIN You'll Be Getting Home

We improved everything

Hey everyone, Daniel here.

Thank you all for tuning in to our live stream, where I showed you the final prototype of DJIN, with the awesome updated clip. If you missed the live stream, CLICK HERE to rewatch!

What's new?

Well, the most obvious change is the updated clip. We found that the previous version wasn't as intuitive, user friendly, or long-lasting as we'd like. So we've been working for the past month to improve it. The result - all the benefits of the old clip, with none of the drawbacks. We know that some of you feel strongly about the first clip, but trust us - the new one is just a joy to use, and totally worth it.

  • It's lighter - DJIN now weighs 46g instead of 60.
  • It works both ways - So many of you asked for a clip that worked for lefties, so we did it!
  • Better visibility - Now you can see and access everything, easier.
  • Better durability - Now you don't have to worry about the spring-arm getting metal fatigue and wearing out over time - DJIN is built to last.

Stash with style

We love the final stash compartment on DJIN. As we showed you in the previous update, the whole clip now slides up on a hidden railing to reveal the hidden stash compartment. Let us know what you think!

I just received my Djin today and I have totally no idea what to do with my notes. This new design just does not work! its just an expensive card holder. i would send it back if i could...

The new clipless design is absolutely USELESS...
Im very dissapointed since i wait for the wallet 8 months. The designed transformed this wallet to an expensive cardholder and since im mainly using bills it wont work for me.
If you use bills a lot DONT buy. You have nowhere to put and secure your bills in the wallet. That new holder simply doesnt work with bills..

    3. Friedrich Bluschke on April 7

I really hoped I could replace my old wallet... sadly the new design is just bad imo.

I cant get all my cards in and not even 2 - 4 notes...

I would send it back if I could

    5. Tomas Medina on March 7

Received mine today. Fantastic for cards and coins, but even 3 basic notes (we use the polymer kind in my country and its surroundings) are more than strong enough to pop it open. Money clip as an accessory is going to be pretty necessary.

This is not what I backed. I've not followed the update since i really thought u were doing a great and honest work. But i was totally wrong and i really regret backing this.

      Peace

Ive been using my djin for a few days now. I use a lot of cash and having to trifold bills is a huge pain.

I made a huge modification to my djin to suit my needs. I attached a money clip to the outside of my djin using a high strength epoxy glue

    8. Ludmila Block on February 27

no no no! that is not what i signed up for. most useless cheap piece of junk. i want my money back.

I just got the wallet and it doesn't even fit bills. I preferred the old clip. Overall, very disappointing.

    10. David Leclerc on February 9

So, i just paid all that money for a velvet box and some metal? all my cards don't even FIT !!
I would ALSO like to cancel my pledge and get a refund. YOu guys had a great idea and BLEW it.

HI, what will happened when i only have 3 or 5 cards - is the new clip able to hold them like the old one?

    16. Faiyaz Hussain on October 1, 2017

I really hope you guys at Koala Gear give us an option of the clip version we paid for. I really do love the quality and innovation that your products have but changing it this drastically this late into the timeline feels like a kick in the gut, I cannot say I am too proud to be supporting this project anymore and if I can cancel the pledge still I will.
But I am really hoping I won't have to do that.

This is stupid, Is there's a way to get back our money? I'm pledging for a wallet not a stupid card holder.

    18. Gyen Ming Angel on September 24, 2017

Definitely seems like a move in the wrong direction... Also considering revoking my pledge.

    19. KaiWing Tong on September 11, 2017

Very Disappointing.I will drop my pledge if I don't see a choice for the old design .Please give us the original fan-out design that we pledged for. I pledged this because of the fan-out design and now is nothing more than a normal card holder. . We are pledging for the fan-out design at first, not this slide out one.

    20. Missing avatar

Edward Wong on September 7, 2017

Please give us back the original fan-out design that we pledged for. This is a huge change to the design, which almost completely changed the way of taking out cards. We are pledging for the fan-out design at first, not this slide out one.

Pavel Rohac on August 29, 2017

I was delaying the visit of the new design for so long... but now i can say that Im suprised in a good way. Cause thats what I do with my actuall wallet, puting all cards in my hand and sliding them like this, not faning. Good thing that now I dont have to do this with 2 hands and the cards remain in the wallet insteed

    22. Missing avatar

      Andrew on August 26, 2017

Lots of complaints about the new design that I don't understand, I personally love it! Bills may not fit as easily into the "Clip" but I'm sure cash can go in the coin slot fairly easily. Fanning out the cards is more awkward than the slide. The gif makes fanning look easy and convenient, but I'm betting it wouldn't be that smooth thus the slide out cards design is nicer. Without the ugly clip I can easily show bus drivers my bus pass without having to take anything out of my wallet. Super looking forward to this!

Revoking my pledge, if you wanted to change it that much, I dont understand why you just wouldn't launch a new, left-friendly design, instead of changing one that oh so many was pleased with.

    25. Afif Jazli on August 25, 2017

I know it won't make much a difference, but I would also like to express that I am very disappointed with such a big change this late. I was interested in the design initially especially because of the fan-out clip. Although I understand that you wanted to make it more "user-friendly" for left-handed people, I really feel that the change was not justified, as the initial design showed a different clip and that was the design most pledged to. I won't make an essay but if the design doesn't revert back, I will probably cancel my pledge too. I hope Koala-Gear avoids such a mistake as this in future projects.

    26. Kristian B on August 24, 2017

I'll join in on the dropping of early bird pledges... don't really need to give a heads up since at the time of writing there are already 13 available early bird microfibers.

New design is not for me, quite frankly the way the cards spread now is just plain boring. Hopefully someone will pick up this nice idea that Koala-Gear chose to throw out... along with potential backers.

I'm also preferring the old design.
In the new Design it looks harder to pick a card from the stack.
      I don't care it's a few grams lighter.
I'll maybe cancel my pledge also.

      brady on August 24, 2017

Same as many others here, I don't like the update. The old spinning of the cards/bills looked more comfortable and elegant, the new one does just look clunky. And if I don't fall the full set of cards and bills they will just fall out.
I will wait one day and if there is no big update I will probably cancel my pledge as well.

    29. Gintare Capra on August 24, 2017

There is no slip in the new design, so do not say "we have updated the clip" - you have removed it!

I really like the new design, and doubled my pledge. This is what I like about Kickstarter: watching a product design in progress, and seeing the changes and improvements throughout the campaign and afterwards during the development phase.

Georg Kleisel on August 23, 2017

Yep im probably going to withdraw my pledge as well. This design doesnt look good at all and seems clunky to get the cards or bills out. I give you a bit of time to react to it but im really unhappy with this new product. Its not what i wanted and its really unfair to your pledgers to completely change the product without asking.

    32. Jonathan Julius Svensson on August 23, 2017

As many others I am sceptic to the new design. It seems like it's harder to grab a hold of any card except the one in the front. Also how does bills work with this design? Looks like you can no longer hold any combination of bills/cards.

Will give you until the weekend to go back to the initial design which i backed. This is an entirely new product in my eyes.

    33. Nikolaj Stausbøl on August 23, 2017

Sorry, but will have to cancel pledge. Not gonna yell up for being cheated or anything. You guys have done your best, but it really seems like a lesser product. Somehow I now feel like this is a pledge for a box in my pocket. In many cases cards will fall out (like in the livestream). In many cases you'll have to empty the clip to get a card out from the back since you now can't grab a corner, but somehow will squeeze it out from the middle. The whole clip can be slided off revealing the hidden compartment which to me is another risk of the whole thing falling apart.

I didn't watch the whole livestream, but to me this doesn't seem thought through anymore.

    34. Spaz McNasty on August 23, 2017

yea gonna need a new video on this.

    35. Marcos on August 23, 2017

I'm definitely thinking on revoking my pledge. This is not what I pledge for, and it has drawbacks for sure.

You can keep less cards very easily/secure, bills are harder to keep as well...and most importantly is easier to slip cards out of it, previously you had a hard stop on the right with the clip. Now you have to tidy the cards correctly with your hands before closing the wallet.

Horrible update. I understand the desire to include left handed people, but lets be real, with this design you considerably cut down costs on the metal used for the structure. I wouldn't be surprise if that's one of the main reasons for this change.

    36. Tim Thomas on August 23, 2017

Thx for that awesome Update! I love the project and that u invite a left hand support is awesome for me...(left handed guy :D)
Go on and i hope to hear from u again.

Please create a new, short and focused video in high quality that shows how the new design works when only a few cards (2-3) and bills are inserted. Please show how the new design prevents bills accidentally falling out when the opened wallet is held vertically.

    42. Sam Morris on August 23, 2017

I truly hope Koala Gear hasn't fully committed to this deign. I understand the efforts in cutting down on weight, but I cannot imagine how such a clunky, unattractive, and drab redesign could be approved. Of course I am willing to wait for an update, but I am strongly considering canceling my pledge. Thank you for your time, and I hope you can understand our collective concern.

    43. Kristian B on August 23, 2017

@Ashek: what money do you want back? This campaign hasn't ended, you haven't been charged anything, and you are welcome to cancel your pledge. Kickstarter is not a store; you are helping develop a new product and bring it to market, not shopping on Amazon.

With this new clip how am I meant to put cash in and is there a spring underneath if I don't have many cards???
I still think the clip is more effective since it allows cash to be stacked on. Realistically it's made of metal so it can be bent back and if worst case just have replaceable clips and the option to purchase more clips.

    48. Kenn Ejima on August 22, 2017

How do you add pressure with the new clip?

Otherwise, cards might fall off when it's not completely full of cards and bills.

    49. Andrzej Dragan on August 22, 2017

This is a scam. This is not what I pledged for. The original design was great, now it's ruined and cannot be even operated single-handedly.
