WHAT is My Two Ladies? It is the newest innovation in knitting needles!!!! An adjustable pair of straight knitting needles that will amaze you. There has not been a new method or type of needle as far back as anyone can remember. Well, now it's here. There are so many aspects to this invention. You will knit quicker, easier and never have to seam panels together again. So easy to maneuver without heaviness on your hands, arms and body. You will wonder how you ever survived without them. And did I mention, they are handcrafted, beautiful and functional.
My brand is a tribute to knitting and to the two amazing owners/sisters of my local knitting studio. Not only did they teach me to knit, but so much more. They gave me the opportunity to be part of an indescribable bond between a group of ladies of varying age, ethnic and social backgrounds, whom would probably have never met otherwise. Knitting brings people together.
I invented My Two Ladies™ out of pure frustration. There had to be a better way to knit this big and bulky blanket. It was exhausting and very time consuming, with either straight or circular needles. While at the studio, an idea popped into my head. I grabbed some knitting tools and supplies, made some modifications, and started knitting quickly and effortlessly. My two dear teachers kept repeating “how is it no one ever thought of this?”. I decided at that moment, I was going to make a much needed product out of this makeshift prototype. This is when the ball starting rolling........
There were many ups and downs throughout this journey of mine, of which I had to learn by trial and error. Luckily, I had many wonderful people surrounding and supporting me. I amazed myself that I was able to do this. My confidence grew and I threw myself into this product, making it a reality.
Picking a name for my new creation was a very emotional task. I had already gone through many names which were already trademarked. I thought this would be a piece of cake. Not so much. While I was in the process of searching for a name, my real life two ladies, were in a critical car accident. This was an absolute tragedy for their family, friends and of course the knitting community in which we were so closely bonded. It came down to the wire. I had to find a name. I was tired, I was upset, I was worried about my dear knitting ladies. That morning I applied for My Two Ladies to be my trademark. Only minutes after I was informed that my trademark was official, I received a telephone call that one of my dear ladies passed on.
The sadness was immense for all, especially her surviving sister. My Two Ladies is a tribute to these two wonderful ladies.
Fast forward the clock two months and my dear lady is doing very well. Her knitting shoppe brought her an abundance of friends that love her and hopefully make each day ease the pain of the loss of her sister. We are blessed to have her.
My Two Ladies is patent pending and handcrafted in India, by local artisans, of sustainable luxurious rosewood native to India. These amazing needles are beautiful, functional and a pleasure to work with.
Risks and challenges
Manufacturing is a very large part of the creation process. You need to find the right manufacturing partner to insure you always have a quality product and they stand behind their work. It took me almost a year to weed out all the manufacturers that created cheap and mediocre products. This was and is not acceptable to me. My diligent searching paid off. Each and every one of my needles in handcrafted and hand inspected before shipping to me. The goal is to have the highest quality product possible, while still maintaining a healthy environment for workers, and giving local wood artisans the opportunity to be able to share their skill and sustain their livelihood.
Inventing a product is very costly. Patent filings, lawyers, company registration, etc. That doesn't leave much cash left for inventory and advertising. I am seeking funds to enable me to have a surplus of stock and offer additional sizes of my needles. Once you try these needles you will want one of each size. Hopefully, I will be able to offer these others sizes very soon and prepare an advertising and marketing plan.
