World's First Titanium Pen that works with 30+ pens. Mont Blanc, Pilot G2, Cross, Uniball & more + Stylus + Free World-Wide Shipping
3,258 backers pledged $313,371 to help bring this project to life.

New Push Goal & Flat Back Plug

Hi Backers,
We had a lot of backers request that we make a plug for the back of the pen for everyone that did not plan on using the stylus tip.  As expected, it is also made out of TA4 titanium and will be made to match the pen colors during production.

PLUG PHOTOS
We have attached some raw photos below of the un-coated plug so everyone can see what they will look like. The final plugs will match in color and texture during production.

COIN SLOT TO KEEP THINGS SECURED
The back plug is pretty small so we will be making them with a coin slot in the back so everyone who uses them won't have a problem securing them to the pen. Without this coin slot it can be a little difficult to tighten the plug enough to make it stay in place. We didn't want anyone to have the plug fall out so we added this feature. :-)

**FIRST PUSH GOAL- 1 SIMPLE CLICK
**
This is our first push-goal ever so we wanted to try something different instead of the traditional money based goal. We wanted to do a push goal that was based on sharing and not spending.

So here it is. If this project reaches 1,000 facebook "likes" on the main page under the video, every pen will get 1 matching flat plug included for FREE as a gift from us to you for your strong support. Pretty easy considering the project has a lot more backers than that.

(For multiple pen backers: If you backed for 2 pens, you will get 2 plugs. If you backer for 3 pens, you will get 3 plugs, etc...) Simply put, 1 free plug per pen that you back.

WHAT IF THE GOAL IS NOT MET?
If we do not meet the 1,000 "like" push goal you can still pledge $3 for however many back plugs you would like, no problem.

WANT MORE THAN THE 1 FREE PLUG?
If you want to purchase more plugs you can add $3 to you current pledge for each additional back plug you want.

HOW TO ADJUST YOUR PLEDGE IF NEEDED
First, log into Kickstarter, then click "Manage Your Pledge" (next to the video on our main project page), then enter a new total amount in the pledge amount box.
Note: that you are not adding to your existing pledge; the amount you enter will be the total amount collected when the project funding time is over.

COLORS, QUANTITY, ADDRESSES, ETC.
Just to be clear, we will collect all the details about color, quantity, and shipping address in the survey after the project has ended.

NEW REFILLS ADDED TO MAIN PAGE
Just a quick note to let everyone know that found a few more refills that work with our pen and have added them to the main page.  We have more pens heading our way and will continue to update the list as we go.

BIG THANKS!
Thanks again for everyone's strong support and for joining us on this exciting journey! Have a great day and click that "like" button under the main video!

Good suggestions! We will consider doing more options and different back plug options in the future. At this time we will need to stick with the current solution so people without access to special tools can swap out the parts anywhere they are. Thanks for the great feedback and ideas. You guys are great!

Another vote for a hex or torx screw - IMO the slot is too visually distracting, and really mars the great lines of the pen.

Another possibility would be to have slotless cap where two opposing points on the edge are flat over a small distance (3mm or so).

    3. Creator calledgestewdent on July 5, 2012

It would be nice if we could have options for the back plug. Like a Kickstarter exclusive hex or Torx plug instead of the coin and we specify during the end survey...because I don't know where I'm going to find a titanium hex screw on my own and would be happy to pay for one.

      Hi Justin
We are pretty sure we will get over 10,00 likes, we have way more than 10,00 backers with over 40 days left. Please keep spreading out the words, trust us, we want to give you guys the flat plugs for free:D

      Hi Justin,
Reaching 1,000 likes should happen by the time the project ends. Anyone can click it, it doesn't have to be backers. Every pen will come with a stylus as expected and 1 additional flat plug will be free if we reach 1,000 "likes". Giving 1 away for free to everyone actually will cost us a couple thousand dollars when it's all said and done, so we can assure you that it is not an attempt to get more money from you or other backers, it is simply trying to enhance the pen for everyone. Thanks for your support and for backing the project!

Can we have a flat plug INSTEAD of the stylus? The fact I might have to pay $3 for it (if you don't reach 1000 likes) just seems like... you're trying to get as much money as you can out of me :(

and I would love for it to have a torx on the back. make it. go.

    7. Creator invader on July 2, 2012

Agreed. If it was a 4mm stylus tip, it would be gold.

    8. Creator calledgestewdent on July 1, 2012

I'm not intending to use the pen as a stylus so the plug (for me) is about making the pen, just a pen.

    9. Creator JR on June 30, 2012

Can somebody help me see the reason why a plug would be needed?

    10. Creator Rich Wiatrowski @weaponlordzero on June 29, 2012

I'm ok with slotted, as long as it's not sharp. I don't want to have to worry about that. Thanks!! Really excited about the pens! I've been trying to spread the word.

    11. Creator chadwick parker & joe huang on June 28, 2012

      Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the comments and enthusiasm. As you might have guessed during our sample making process, we have already thought about a lot of different fastening options and decided to make it as standard for everyone as possible. Mainly because these will be going to countries all over the world and not everyone has access to special shaped tools. (which tend to get lost) We feel that it's important that the pen and these small parts function well without the need for special tooling that can get lost or be hard to find. We really look forward to making these amazing pens and extras plugs for everyone! Hopefully we can reach the 1,000 "like" goal and we can make everyone 1 for free. Thanks everyone!

I like the idea of Torx, (or the more available hex, which every loyal IKEA owner has). It would look more finished & intentional than the current solution.

    13. Creator Josh Robinson on June 28, 2012

      Yea, torx would look great!

the tightening slot looks UGLY at such a well designed stylus.
try to make it as a torx compatible hole or leave it plain (use threadlocker to fix it)

    16. Creator chadwick parker & joe huang on June 27, 2012

No worries, we appreciate your involvement in the project. Thanks again for being awesome and for your support!

    17. Creator calledgestewdent on June 27, 2012

Sorry. I didn't consider that the cap still needs to post on the back. Thank you for the explanation.

    18. Creator chadwick parker & joe huang on June 27, 2012

      Hi calledgestewdent,
If we covered the external threads the cap would not post on the back anymore. Thanks for your strong support and joining us on the journey!
      -Chadwick & Joe

    19. Creator calledgestewdent on June 27, 2012

It looks less like a "cap" and more like a screw. I would have hoped the cap would cover the external threads in order to make the end of the pen look more "complete". It's still the best pen I've seen on Kickstarter.

    20. Creator chadwick parker & joe huang on June 27, 2012

Hi Arnold, Due to the small size of the plug and the need for it to function the best it can, this is the best way for us to make it. Thanks for your suggestion and for your support.

Is it possible to make the 'coin slot' in a curved line following the shape of the coin edge to make the side of the flat back plug smooth (no cut). IMO it will make the pen's appearance less 'mechanical'.
Sorry if I'm not clear enough, English is not my native language.

    22. Creator chadwick parker & joe huang on June 27, 2012

      Hi Bruce,
1 free plug per pen if we hit 1,000 facebook "likes". Thanks for the question.
      -Chadwick & Joe

    23. Creator Bruce on June 27, 2012

Is it 1 flat plug free per pen or per person? It's a little ambiguous for those who have ordered multiple pens. Very kind and generous offer, regardless. Thank you.

    24. Creator chadwick parker & joe huang on June 27, 2012

*sorry typo - that they want...

    25. Creator chadwick parker & joe huang on June 27, 2012

      Hi Charlie,
Yes, if we do not meet the goal, the flat plug will only be sent to backers who pledge an additional $3 for each plug that that want. If we reach 1,000 "likes" everyone will get 1 flat plug added to their current selected rewards for free and can purchase extras if they want.
      -Chadwick & Joe

    26. Creator Charlie Gibson on June 27, 2012

meaning that if you don't meet the goal and I don't pay extra, I will not get a plug, correct?

    27. Creator chadwick parker & joe huang on June 27, 2012

      *$3 per plug (of course)

    28. Creator chadwick parker & joe huang on June 27, 2012

      Hi Charlie,
If we do not meet the 1,000 "like" push goal you can still pledge $3 for however many back plugs you would like. Thanks.

      Hi Julia,
The pen already comes with a stylus tip back. You can see all the images on the main project page and video. Thanks.

    31. Creator Julia Gosztyla Ziobro on June 27, 2012

Any chance to get a STYLUS-TIP BACK so that I can use the pen or stylus just by flipping it over to the right end? I'd pay more money for THAT! :-)

    33. Creator Charlie Gibson on June 27, 2012

so we already get one plug with our pen, even if the 1000 likes goal isn't met?
