About

Cloud computing and cloud storage have become the de facto standard for businesses.  But these days the costs are rising and your data is at the mercy of the provider of the cloud service.  As recently headlines have shown (http://news.yahoo.com/netflix-blames-amazon-christmas-eve-outage-033203009--finance.html) your data is not so safe after all!

Why not setup your own cloud server and protect and keep your own data?  That's where we come in.  We are providing the hardware and the software for you to do just that!  There are several hardware configurations to choose from and each is a blazing fast HDMI capable system for playing back video at a full 1080p.  You also have the capability to serve media (such as video, music, documents, anything you can think of!) to your mobile devices.

In this day and age, it seems you always read about the “Cloud” and how certain server outages have crippled companies for hours or days at a time. Also there's no privacy anymore with the “Cloud”. Anything you put on the "Cloud" can easily be tracked, viewed and for that matter lost.

That's where YOPI Cloud comes in. But what exactly is YOPI Cloud?

It is a combination of high-end hardware with lots of storage and software that allows you to store personal data on your servers and only allow private access to the data to users and devices that you choose.

Data includes but is not limited to the following, Movies, Music, Pictures Word Processing Documents, Spread Sheets, and anything else you want to store.

But YOPI Cloud is much more than that. It is also a media center with the ability to play videos, Blu-ray movies, DVDs, music and even edit documents remotely and keep them stored in your own private personal cloud device. You can even control the YOPI Cloud server through your iOS or Android Device.

YOPI Cloud is the utmost is privacy protection. It is backed by state-of-the-art security and encryption.

YOPI Cloud also allows remote viewing of videos, music, pictures and documents on your IOS or Android Device . Full security allows only users and devices that you have authorized to gain access to the data on your YOPI Cloud server.

You can also send private messages and emails via YOPI Cloud that only go to the users and devices that you have enabled to have access.

For instance, a Doctor in San Francisco can store an X-Ray picture or movie of a medical condition and another Doctor, from say Madagascar, can view the image or movie. The Doctors can even communicate privately via instant messaging or private email through the YOPI Cloud server.

YOPI Cloud is the ultimate in cloud storage and cloud serving of your media & data all with the comfort of knowing you own your own data!

Risks and challenges

Several key risks and challenges in seeing this project to completion.

The primary risks for us include:

Software Development

Finding the right people is a challenge but we have lined up top talent who are ready to come on board once funded. Success in cloud computing takes diverse backgrounds. We also plan to support and tap into the open source community for the software.

Supply Chain and Logistics

We can encounter problems when taking our prototypes to production. This includes issues having suppliers keep up with demand for mass-production. Continual monitoring of the supply chain is absolutely essential to overcoming such risks. Discontinuation of components for the hardware can leave a hole in the manufacturing process. We plan to mitigate this through the use of multiple sources and multiple partners. Also most of the components are commodity parts and easily obtainable.

The Team

The founder and conceptual designer of these products has a diverse background in the manufacturing business and has overseen mass production of consumer products in the past. The usual quantities of product that have been ordered are in the 50,000 unit range.

Other team members include a very well qualified VP of Software Development and a handful of senior software developers.
