A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
We are Klasern - a lifestyle brand inspired by the look of classic, yet modern, evidenced by hints of timelessness wed to a touch of futurism. Our name, Klasern, is a portmanteau word of classic and modern, intended to communicate and characterize our design principles.
In 2016, designer Tuan Hoang established Klasern as a brand of his design studio Nogias in Saigon, Vietnam. Since 2017, Klasern has relocated to Dallas, Texas and continued working on our first watch collection MOT.
Klasern is family-owned and operated, ensuring quality service and conscientious, hands-on attention to every detail between manufacture and customer satisfaction.
Klasern avails only the finest materials and components for our watches - Swiss-made movement, sapphire crystal glass and surgical stainless steel.
Klasern stunningly bridges the two worlds of classic and modern with elegant, timeless design. The precision mechanics and artful craftsmanship radiate an imposing good look well beyond the thousandth glance.
Every watch from Klasern is affordable, costing only as much as necessary but as little as possible.
Klasern pays sensitive attention to environment-friendly material acquisition as well as its production methods.
We are glad to introduce our very first wristwatch collection MOT, the Vietnamese word for one. The MOT is a stunning timepiece, perfectly suited to every discerning wardrobe and for any occasion, be it formal, casual, office or workplace, or even sports. Inspired by Bauhaus designs that lay emphasis on functionality and simplicity while still embodying a futuristic look, refined handsomeness in striking elegance of the MOT is characterized by simple yet exquisite lines.
Powering the MOT is the undisputed engineering reputation of the high precision Swiss quartz movement from Ronda, encased in a 38mm stainless steel body. The powder-coated case in silver comes with an additional top coat by using PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) process to improve hardness, scratch resistance, and corrosion resistance. Sapphire crystal is used to enhance scratch and shatter resistance of the domed glass. The genuine leather straps are made by Saigon craftsmen who take an obsessive approach to quality workmanship.
All images belong to their respective owners.
Great design requires a major time investment. Our process takes over a year, beginning with product designers and engineers questioning just "How does this watch express the brand’s image?", "Who will wear it?" and "What materials will be suitable with it?"
Pencil and paper sketches evolve into computer constructs featuring the input of designers and engineers, until a working plastic model emerges in prototype by 3D printing. A CNC milling machine is then utilized to produce the sample casing from a block of solid steel. Watch dial and hands are designed to suit the case, with final selection made from the several prototypes. Evaluations, examinations and study continue until a final design is confirmed, then considerations move to the watch band and packaging phase.
At long last the final prototype is ready for batch production. Swiss movements from Ronda and sapphire crystal glass components await importation. The watch case is mass-produced by our Hongkong partner firm, while leather straps and packaging are made by local Saigon artisans and handicraftsmen.
If our campaign reaches $10,000, we will release the Klasern HAI Collection which features black dial & automatic movement watches! More color combinations will also be available!
In evidence of our high standards and quality craftsmanship, Klasern purchase comes with a two-year warranty, from the date of purchase. Kindly note that the warranty does not cover damage resulting from incorrect or misuse of the product, including lack of care, negligence or damage arising from accidents, or unauthorized third-party repair attempts. Warranty does not cover battery-life or normal wear and tear of the case, glass, or watch strap. When returning a product for warranty purposes, be sure to include a copy of the warranty card and proof of purchase.
Klasern product warranty card includes an 8-digit code. This identification code serves to validate the authenticity of a genuine watch, as well as its warranty status.
It stands to reason that any fund investments are often accompanied by some risks. However, we're ready to ensure that in our case the risks are quite low. We are hitting Kickstarter with the ready-made prototypes, but not the preliminary designs, and we are prepared for all the setbacks and obstacles until our first big project’s launching.
All the photos are made with the real objects and graphics. We've already got and tested the final prototypes that can become the samples for the future manufacturing. We’ve also prepared the platform and resources for a quantity exceeding our initial goal of more than 100%.
