A series of portraits and Fine art Photography, INMYHEAD, aims to tell the stories of people dealing with mental illness. Most of us have either dealt with mental illness or know someone who does and although we may try to understand what it feels like so we can help ourselves and loved ones the obstacles we face can make or break us.
I discovered Photography as an art form when I was 20. I spent the first year planning photoshoots and doing pro bono work. After a series of unfortunate events I used my creativity to deal with the event happening around me, during that time I was also dealing with silent migraines which kept causing me to pass out. I couldn't figure out how to describe what was going on so I did a makeup an took photos of it and realized it help not only make me feel better about showing my problem but as soon as my mom saw it she realized what it was. I started taking photos representing depression and quickly realized the potential of the project.
This Project was created to bring awareness to mental disorders such as depression, schizophrenia, anorexia, obesity, cutting, suicide ect. I want to sit down with each person and find their inner most fears, desires, what scares them and most importantly how they see them selves. This is also for diseases that you can’t see but takes its toll on the person.
In 2015 I started going to school for Digital Photography to help me create better quality photos for the project and have been building on my equipment and makeup skills.
With the help of volunteer models and peoples testimonies about dealing with mental illness I have been able to create a variety of different photos. Although I have managed to get a lot done with minimal transportation and resources there is still a lot to do to finish the series. So I'm looking to the Kickstarter community to help me fund my series and help turn it into my first gallery showing. With your help I will be able to create more elaborate portraits by expanding on my materials, studio time, makeup and resources to more accurately translate my vision.
Your contribution will go towards supplies to create more intricate and interesting photos, photo equipment,props/makeup/clothing, printing, framing and to rent the venue for the exhibition. Most importantly, I need your help to help me bring awareness to Mental illnesses.

Risks and challenges
One of my biggest challenges will be transportation, I do not have a vehicle or License but even with that I have been able to do about five series ( about 300 photos) not including photos of myself.
Props and clothing is a problem at the moment, I have some stuff I can use but not enough at the moment. I am trying to use as little photoshop as possible so that the photos feel more authentic.
Funding is my biggest issue. I do not make a lot of money and anything I get generally goes to my three year old, so I am currently working with bare minimum.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
