In the Studio
I just got back this morning after spending a little over a week in LA recording in the studio. Over the course of the week I learned so much about myself, making music and being in the studio. At every turn I’ve been impressed by the talent and dedication of the people around me. I wanted to share my progress, some photos and talk about your gifts!
The album now has a title: Fear of Swimming, named after the song I wrote for Whit Scott’s film Rolled. All eleven tracks have been recorded and about half of those remain to be mixed. Once the songs are mixed, I’ll send them to the mastering lab. I’ve seen the first drafts of artwork – including what I think will become the poster art – and it looks incredible. I’m so happy with how things sound and look, I can’t wait to share it with you.
Kicksong! - Anyone who chose a gift gets the Kicksong. Now that I’m back I’ll have a chance to record that and get it out. I’ll post another update with that in the next couple weeks.
Covers & Originals – for those of you who chose to get a cover song or an original song, I’ll be fulfilling those gifts within the next few weeks also. Keep an eye on your email for the survey and your other eye on Youtube, where I’ll post everything.
Digital & Physical Albums – As soon as it’s ready! Let’s just say I think you’ll have time to put this on a New-Year’s-Resolution-playlist, which if you don’t know, is a playlist everyone should be making.
Thanks for all your support. None of this would have happened without you. I feel so lucky and grateful. Oh and if you want more frequent updates, check out my album blog or follow me on twitter @kirstenopstad
