Why A Multicultural Travel Guide to London?

This past January and February I explored London for five weeks with one goal – to discover its multiculturalism and write a Travel Guide to Multicultural London. 2012 is a fitting year to highlight the city’s multiculturalism. The Olympic and Paralympic Games will bring the world to London. But how many visitors know that the world is already in London?  And what resources are there to help visitors explore this side of London?

Probably not many.

I’m on a mission to change that.

A visit to multicultural London should include the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Southall

Over the course of five weeks, I walked up and down London's streets seeking out the people, places things that make up multicultural London. I trekked to Southall London several times to understand how and why Indian culture is so pervasive in London. I ate several times at the Brixton Village Market, a foodie's paradise in the middle of London's 1st neighborhood for Afro-Caribbean culture. I went on three Black History Tour walks led by Tony Warner. I fell in love with this multiculturalism that allowed me to travel the world without leaving the city.

Right now, I'm condensing all of this new knowledge into an ebook that will serve as the best of Multicultural London.

As everyone heads to London for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, I am going to produce a publication that shows people the multiculturalism that exists in London independently of the Games.

One of my fav places in London is Brick Lane, a multicultural and trendy area of London full of markets, good nightlife and curry houses.

The digital e-book guide will be called Multiculti London (cause multicultural is too darn long…). This guide will succinctly introduce you to the food, art, and music of the myriad cultures that make London the most diverse city in the world.

So what can you expect from a Travel Guide to Multicultural London?

  • Tours of Brixton, Southall, Brick Lane,  Dalston and Chinatown
  • Profiles and interviews with a diverse array of people who work to represent London’s diversity
  • Listings of the top restaurants across multiple foods
  • The most extensive listing of annual multicultural festivals and events in London of any publication.

The digital book will be published on July 15, just in time for the opening of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

I’ll also be attending the Olympic and Paralympic Games, where I'll be writing about and reporting about Multicultural London.

Right now I can’t complete this project without your support.

So please help me out!
