Production Update!

Hello everyone. I hope everyone that celebrated Thanksgiving had a wonderful holiday. I just wanted to give you guys a quick production update. Unfortunately, we have been running into some issues with the holographic foiling on the US deck that is causing the cards to be marked more than I want. (Marked means that you can see an impression, from the foil from the back side of the card, enabling people that know about it to tell which card it is simply by looking at the back of the card. Because the foiling is only on three cards (KoS, QoS, JoS), it is proving to be a small detail that is really not worth the trouble it is causing. I really have been striving for this deck to be top notch and made the decision to take that element out. Sadly because of this delay, the cards will not be ready for fulfillment this month as initially estimated. I apologize for the delay but am confident that it is the right decision for the integrity and playability of the deck. I know that you will be so happy with the final product. Other than that one issue everything is going very well and things are looking awesome.

Thank you so much for your patience and support. During the campaign, not much of the Chinese deck was finished. But all the art for the Chinese deck is finished. It took me longer to figure out all of the design and structure for the Chinese deck as the art is so different than that of US money, with which I am most familiar. I am so pleased with how they turned out and was so refreshed to do something so different than my previous currency decks.

I also apologize for the length of time between updates. I only wanted to update you guys when I had new news or something substantial to report. I will keep you guys updated as we get closer to fulfillment and if any other issues arise.

I am excited about your response to my question Jackson, thank you for the consideration of making this deck everything it could possibly be. I know sometimes things come into play that curves the situation into another direction, but to hear from you personally about the situation and how to attempt to fix it is very respectable to me, thank you for trying your best.

Mr. Robinson, did you ever receive my private message a while back about forgetting to add the dealer coins I pledged for to the survey? I never got a reply so I got a little worried.

@John Reese I'm going to experiment with something we haven't tried yet (in the design of the holo foil) that might bring the "making" le
vel down to an acceptable level. You may notice on some of the concept images, like on the US KoS that the actual word "KING" is knocked out of the foil. The big problem with the foiling was the actual word "KING" would show through to the other side. As well as "Jack" and "Queen" so it would be very easy to exactly what card it was with out looking at the reverse side. What I haven't tried yet is just taking out the word knockout out of the foil. I will just try a simpler design that is just the rectangular band without the words.
This may still show through a bit but I don't think it will be as glairing.

My original design of the foil had the word "King, Queen, or Jack" knocked out to mimic the "100" that was knocked out of the actual bill holo foil stripe (Its really printed but we didn't have the tech to make custom hologram foil, so we went with knocking out the words) I will keep trying and find a solution to the foil and will keep you posted.

Good job with the chinese courts. It bugs me though that the only commet to this update you respond to is about a point that isn't even the main point to the update. Could you also please address the concerns/questions of the other backers. I would agree with Reese and would appreciate an answer. Thank you

      @Flashcards

Thanks for your comment. I will go back and take a look at who I can use in place of Mao Zedong.

      Jackson,

Regarding the Chinese deck: I personally could do without Mao Zedong on the King of Spades. He may be on the actual money but he caused a lot of misery in the country and today is not given much respect by the average citizen. Since you are doing mostly ethnic minorities anyway, he seems out of place. Since there are 56 recognized minorities, I'm sure you can find someone else for the KofS.

Can anyone tell me who's on chinese JQK deck?

      I agree about the hologram

WOW this is a pretty big let down for me personally, I was incredibly excited to see the foil on the cards. I thought it was a genius idea which is what prompted me to change my rewards to double my original rewards. I know things happen but I mean really no holographic foil, I personally dont care if it shows through the back of the card, I will just play other games that dont matter with markings. Is there anyway we can still get those cards because the way I see it is you just save more money by taking away a part of the promised project?

Quality over delivery is always my pick. Take as long as you need. But it is also best to keep in touch even if all you say is "nothing to report this week but work is in its usual process". Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I'd have no problem with receiveing one of these "marked" decks! I see it as something that would make my deck(s) different from the rest!

@Jackson Thanks for the update. A quality product is always worth the wait! The artwork looks gorgeous. Appreciate all the hard work and diligence that is going into this.
