We have beaucoup copies of the astounding new Jam Messengers record, Night & Day, in the warehouse waiting to be shipped on September 23, the official release date. The 12 song LP features cover art by Walter Robinson and Steve Baker, There are guest appearances by Brian Hurd (Daddy Long Legs), Jonas Morbach (Black Needles), and Andrew Cushen (Hellhounds). To get Night & Day directly into the hands of the people likely to enjoy it most, we at KDB created this Kickstarter campaign. Our goal is to resurrect King Dog Biscuit Records as a way to distribute physical product - vinyl records and CDs - as well as purely downloadable digital releases. We have a powerful roster of artists including Jam Messengers, Workdogs, Rob K/MDA, Uncle Butcher, The Robert Kennedy Assassination to name just a few. And we possess a vault of previously unheard historical archives from the Workdogs' storied past that feature life changing performances by some of the greatest players to pass through New York City during the 80s and 90s. Included in our rewards offers is one example of the type of material we anticipate releasing:
King Dog Biscuit Records is also being created to rectify some of the misfortune the Workdogs have brought upon themselves. When the KDB website is up and running it will be the only place on the internet where the Workdogs are paid for your purchase. The incredible naivete of the 'Dogs has cost them any profit from such masterpieces as Roberta:
Kingdogbiscuit.com when it is up and running will be more than just a place to purchase music. KDB already has produced high quality T Shirts for the Workdogs as well as these beauties that were created especially for this offer:
King Dog Biscuit Records is ready and able to send our rewards the day this project closes. We are already in the process of building kingdogbiscuit.com in anticipation of achieving our project funding. We appreciate your help in taking King Dog Biscuit Records into the 21st Century!
Risks and challenges
After a hiatus of more than thirty years, King Dog Biscuit is poised to resume it's title of "the hippest record label on Earth." But we need your help!
Begun in 1985 primarily as a vehicle to distribute the music of the Workdogs, King Dog Biscuit switched gears after one release and became a game show, a booking agency and ultimately The King Dog Biscuit Publishing Company. From 1985 to the present the KDB mission statement has been "to protect the legacy and promote the rights of the artists on our roster:" Jam Messengers, Workdogs, Rob K/MDA, The Robert Kennedy Assassination, Uncle Butcher, etc.
King Dog Biscuit recently decided that to best achieve our goals it was necessary to become a record label once again. The catalyst for that decision was the new Jam Messengers LP, Night & Day. Quite frankly everything about Night & Day - from the evocative Walter Robinson cover, to the extraordinary lyrics, to the highly addictive grooves- was just too fine to relegate to the typical negligent treatment provided by most labels. We spared no expense on the production; lush packaging, only the very best studios.
Unfortunately the expense of producing Night & Day has left King Dog Biscuit short of operating capital. In the years since our last release the music business has changed mightily. In 2018 a label cannot do business without a digital platform, handsome website, quality merchandise and a viable distribution network. Your contributions will help us realize those goals!
We have Night & Day LPs in hand, we have the beautiful Walter Robinson T shirts, we have all our other rewards ready to mail. With your help King Dog Biscuit will once again be the hippest label on Earth!
