About this project
My name is Glen of Kinektron and I absolutely love art, design objects and products. It's been a small dream of mine to produce art and product of all kinds, but for this particular project, I'd like to offer Igloomination.
- Igloomination is what I call a SLO or a Structural Light Object. For me, the design represents my love of craft and modern fabrication techniques to create something truly new, unique, and hopefully, a bit special.
- Each Igloomination light object is fabricated by CNC and assembled here in the United States. It will ultimately be available in various color and material options including PVC and wood. * Please note that each Igloo is a little bit unique due to the production process.
- Mounting hardware for display as a sconce will be sold separately
- The pre-assembled version includes a standard light bulb and is ready to use right out of the package. For all of the fabricators and makers out there, a do-it-yourself assembly version will be available in the future as a flat pack kit and will come with all of the components and parts needed to assemble a functional unit.
One of the nice features about the design is that it allows for multiple display options:
1 - flat as a desktop or shelf light object
2 - upright as a desktop or shelf light object
3 - mounted on a wall as a sconce (unit does not include wall-mounting hardware, please inquire if desired)
4 - hanging from the ceiling as a pendant
5 - two our four Igloos can be attached together (magnets are embedded in the base as a standard feature) to create a modular display
Lastly, the funding that I wish to receive through Kickstarter will allow me to produce the item on a larger, faster, and less expensive scale and let anyone who wishes to own an Igloomination, the opportunity to do so. The Igloo is the first in a series of several Structural Light Objects and I hope to release the rest of the collection through Kickstarter or through the Kinektron shop.
And of course, if anyone should have any feedback, questions, or just to say hi, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
