I have already published my book, The New Puppy At The Pound with Createspace.com. If you visit my website www.KimASchidrich.com you can learn more about me and the other inspirational children's stories I have written and would like to have published through Createspace.com. You can also visit my facebook page Kim A. Schidrich.
The New Puppy At The Pound is available online at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and many other major book distributors!
The New Puppy At The Pound was brilliantly illustrated by Sherri Dewig.
Jasper The Giant and my other inspirational children's stories will be illustrated by the talented artists at Createspace.com. Although there are many talented artists to choose from, I requested Brian A. to illustrate Jasper The Giant. Below is a sample of his illustrations.
- I enjoy writing inspirational children's stories, a story with a message.
- I want my stories to have a moral and to be an inspirational children's story.
- I think about virtues and values that I believe should be instilled in children.
- I think about children that aren't treated nicely by others or have a challenge that makes them special....I write for those children.
- I hope my stories will make a difference in a child's life or just bring them a smile!

I wanted to share a recent message I posted on my facebook page....
I've posted information about my kickstarter project for my next book Jasper The Giant. Believe me this was way outside of my comfort zone. I felt uncomfortable thinking...would my friends and family think I was asking for a handout. But my thinking was...I'm offering an advertising opportunity. It was a business idea I had. To me it was just like if someone bought an Ad in the newspaper or advertising time on TV.
For the last several years I was Co-Chair for SGGCS's annual fundraiser. I got very good at raising money and soliciting sponsors for the event. As long as the sponsor felt they were supporting a worthwhile cause and you offered them something enticing for their sponsorship, like tickets to the event or an Ad in the event book..it wasn't that hard solicitng sponsors. It was a Win Win situation for both parties. That's how I saw my kickstarter project.
I was offering such rewards as a full page colored Ad in my next book, sponsor's name acknowledgement recognition in my book/website/facebook page and even 6 characters in Jasper The Giant modeled after 6 people of your choosing!
But then I started thinking about something that happened recently. We were on our family vacation in Dollywood with my parents and sister's family. My parents took my family and my sister's family on an amazing vacation to the Smoky Mountains. After a long day in Dollywood's amusement park we were waiting on line for the trolley to pick us up and take us to where we had parked our cars. I was dying of thirst. I asked my husband to get me a sprite from the soda machine that was close to the line we were standing on for the trolley.
The soda was $1.25. My husband didn't have any change on him. He had a $1 billl and some larger bills. He turned to our group and asked if anyone had a quarter? A gentleman standing in line reached into his pocket and gave my husband a quarter. My husband took the quarter and bought me the sprite.
I drank the sprite and shared it with my son, daughter and neice.
When we got on the trolley the man was sitting in front of me. I thanked him for his generousity and told him I really needed that sprite! I was soooo thirsty!
That story is what Jasper The Giant is all about!
When that man gave us a quarter it probably was not a financial burden for him to do so. He probably didn't think much about what he was doing. Just that he had a quarter handy and someone needed it. It was just the right thing for him to do. He didn't realize his small kind gesture made a big difference to me. I'm sure you've all had that extreme thirst where you we're dying for a drink. Well that man allowed me to quench my thirst.
Jasper The Giant is about teaching children that you do not have to SAVE SOMEONE IN A BIG WAY to make a big difference in their lives. A small gesture can make a big difference in someone's life!
At the end of the story Jasper realizes it's not about the BIG SAVE OF THE DAY that makes you a hero. Jasper discovers what makes you a hero is the size of your heart and your kind deeds. What makes you a hero is caring about others needs!
So I had this thought...hopefully when the August Issue of Pink Magazine comes out and people read the article about the inspirational children's stories that I write....maybe just maybe people will see the value of the inspirational children's stories that I write and I want to have published. Even if they don't want to advertise in my book they can choose to BACK MY PROJECT for $1.00.
If 6000 people BACKED MY PROJECT for $1.00 it would allow me to publish Jasper The Giant with Createspace.com. Just like in Jasper The Giant....a small gesture can make a big difference in someone's life! Like I tell my children...smile at someone, hold a door open, give a compliment, listen to someone who is loney. All these kind gestures are small but can make a big difference and brighten someone's day!
Wish me luck!!
