Thanks for checking out our project!
WHAT'S THE FILM ABOUT?
KILLER GRANNY is about an old widow who finds out her family's planning to put her away in a home...and goes on a murderous rampage!
(It's kind of like Snakes on a Plane, but with Betty White. I know, right?)
Cybill Siegel is about to celebrate her 80th birthday with a big party at her old house. All of her family will be there: her loving daughter Crystal, her grandkids, even her estranged drunk of a son Chett. Cybill can barely contain her excitement. The only problem is that her children have secretly arranged to put her into a nursing home, and Chett has come into town to make sure he inherits the vintage car he's always wanted. Cybill finds out about this secret plot, and...well, let's just say she ends up cutting up more than just the birthday cake.
WHAT'S THE PLAN?
So we wrote a feature-length version of KILLER GRANNY last year, and we were thrilled by how well it did at festivals: we were finalists at Slamdance, NYC Horror Film Fest, Washington D.C. Horror Film Fest, Shriekfest, and a few others. We really want to see that script get made, but it's important to us that it gets done right - so we're taking matters into our own hands. We're going to self-produce this short based on the same concept and take it on the international festival circuit, so we can find the right people to make the feature. We've got Max Albert of the Albert Mason Group directing, which we're very excited about, and we're gearing up for a late-August shoot. So we're launching this campaign to raise the funding we need to get rolling!
HOW WILL THE MONEY BE USED?
First and foremost, to make the most badass finale sequence of all time. We need blood, we need limbs, we need hollowed-out dog carcasses (you read that right). We're very lucky to have free access to the locations we need, but other production costs like lighting, lenses, and transportation are also going to be needed. And in addition to that, the money will go towards submission fees and general office materials so we can get the film out to all the festivals we're aiming for.
Something really important we want to add is that we've exhausted all the money in our own pockets first - we've invested as much as we're able to into this story, because we think it's going to make a memorable movie, and we're willing to do anything to see that it happens. We're here on kickstarter because we're convinced that there's a community of people out there who'd be equally excited to see a killer granny tearing up the screen. If that's you, we encourage you to back this project and become a part of the Granny Family.
