About this project
Who is Kid Power? My name is Bruce Wilson and I am the president of Kid Power Cares Inc. I have been performing educational children’s theatre for over a decade, entertaining more than a million kids nationwide. In 2008, I started building “Kid Power” programming because I wanted children everywhere to have access to high-quality edutainment, teaching them valuable life lessons to help them live healthy, more productive lives. I chose my superhero name, “Kid Power,” because I liked the double meaning. Kid Power's programs make it clear to kids of all ages that they are heros themselves. I love helping children learn they have all the “Kid Power” needed to make life-enhancing choices for themselves and the world around them.
What is Kid Power and the Planet Protectors?
"Kid Power and the Planet Protectors" - is a highly interactive, musical show, designed to help children, in grades K-5, learn the value of environmental awareness and preservation. This energetic show is packed with puppets, characters, clever visuals, and lots of singing and dancing. Through sing-a-longs, question answering, dancing, and volunteering, children are encouraged to develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors needed to make environmentally conscious choices.

Why does Kid Power and the Planet Protectors need your help?
“Kid Power and the Planet Protectors” needs a facelift. The show desires to be hi-tech, just like its younger brother, our newer show about nutrition & exercise, “Kid Power’s Operation Lunch Line in 3D”. Our nutrition & exercise show reaches a larger audience and travels on a national tour. Characters from the environmental conservation show, Cool Claude, Landfill Phil, and DJ Brady have become jealous and want to reach a national audience too.
All joking aside, after the success of the hi- tech 3D effects in our nutrition and exercise show, we began receiving phone calls from school teachers and parents nationwide, requesting the same 3D effects to be added to our environmental conservation show as well. They believe, like we do, that this upgrade will increase the show’s appeal, which will in turn help it reach and educate a greater number of children nationwide. Our goal is to introduce this upgraded version of the show during the 2013-2014 school year.
However, with the ever-increasing school budget cuts, especially in terms of funding for arts education, we need your help. It has always been our desire and continued goal to offer high-quality education through entertainment to every child in every school, regardless of a school’s finances. So, in order to offer a higher quality environmental conservation show, we need to raise at least $30,000. These funds will enable us to pay for the animated 3D upgrade, as well as script and set revisions. Plus, your contributions will also help us continue our outreach to those schools that no longer have an arts education budget.
Who will this upgraded show reach?
Right now, “Kid Power and the Planet Protectors” is only offered as an in-school assembly throughout New England, New York, New Jersey, and the greater Chicago area. But with this upgrade, we will be able to offer this show as one of our National Tour options, increasing its audience to include schools in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Arizona, New Mexico, Louisiana, Georgia, Texas, and Kansas. Plus we are always adding more and more states to our National Tour route each year as interest grows. Spread the word!
Risks and challenges
We feel that there is a low risk associated with this project because we are doing something we have already done successfully before. We learned a lot about 3D animation when we created our other children's show based around nutrition and exercise. This time we we'll be able to use our experience as a guide. However, animation design is time consuming and the production could be delayed by a few months due to some unforeseen issues, such as script development or design changes. Even though we don't anticipate any delays, we will be sure to keep all backers informed if such delays come up and provide new time estimates for project completion.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
