Well we have some things to update you guys on so let's dig in!
Friday night, Ben and Chris abandoned all else to start packing some US Boxes to go out Monday. As packing went on, we had some major issues with the way things were shipped.
As seen above, about 1/2 of what was sent to us via our fulfillment partner is damaged to some extent. Now not all of it is damaged to the extreme level you saw above, but our thoughts on quality is that WE wouldn't want to receive a game with a depressed box, or banged up corners (like banged up to the point where Chris and Ben wouldn't really feel great trying to open them). So we thought no one else would either.
So all of this, while depressing, still should mean enough copies for our NA Backers to get packed and shipped right?
Well in unboxing a few copies, there were a few things we noticed in some copies. Some copies were showing missing the Reward Token Punch-board sheets. Now obviously those sheets were in the samples and looked great, and are in some copies backers have gotten, but, while we planned to replace things at the start of the year, if the missing Punch-board has affected even 25% of backers, we could not afford to ship all those items out. So we are waiting to hear back from the manufacturer as to how many they think it will affect, but our hope is, we want to have made, rushed and sent overnight, to then add to all these boxes.
So yes, the plan was to ship on Monday, that's why the guys busted their asses to pack everything up, but until we know how we can get these reward tokens guaranteed, we can't afford to gamble on that, given the game is rendered unplayable without them.
We want to say again though, while we are upset with the manufacturer and the shipper for this, the blame does rest with us. Here is how;
- With Dallas leaving before edits, the process was slower than we wanted. And there were limitations because we couldn't change certain files and layers he made. This lead to a pause when we needed to edit things for the manufacturer. It was that pause that we believe lead to the errors in missing parts.
- Then shipping, because of our delays fell into a time of year in which shipping is dang near impossible to guestimate.
- This was the first project we had and first time working with any of these partners. Needless to say, lessons were learned
So we will keep you posted likely with an update Monday/Tuesday when we hear back, but when we know, these are ready to go! Thank you all again for your patience with us as we figure out how to work through these kind of issues.
