Happy Weekend, loves!

I've been back in Toronto for a little over a week and we wrapped days 1 & 2 this past Tuesday/Wednesday.

This shoot has been rife with challenges, but I'm a firm believer in the old adage that nothing worth having comes easy. That being said, I have been working on allowing myself to live with ease... so... I guess I'm still trying to find a little balance in that respect.

Just before I left LA - and due to a complete misunderstanding - we thought we lost our director of photography. We hustled hard once I hit Canadian soil (or really, I started hopping on calls en route to LAX) and found a replacement... several days of chaos ensued, but we ended up working a few scheduling conflicts out with our original DP AND found an equally amazing new DP to cover those conflicting dates. We're proud to say that we've got two incredibly talented female DPs giving us their all and we could not be happier about any or all of it.

As that all came together, our sound guy went AWOL. We had a friend graciously step in for our first two days and have an awesome recordist/mixer hopping on board for a few days this week, but are still working hard to cover all of our shoot days.

To top it off, one of our actors booked two TV shows and just let us know that he'll be shooting in another province for the rest of the month... hello re-casting. We're beyond thrilled for him and couldn't even be upset about losing him for one second. He's doing brilliant work and we know we'll find the perfect fit for us very soon!

Plus! We lost both our preferred restaurant location for our final date scene and our backup... but ended up having an even more ideal and visually stunning location donated to us at the last minute. Phew!

And did I mention that I broke out with not one, but three giant cold sores exactly four days before we started shooting?

Despite these setbacks and the ups & downs involved in pulling a show of this magnitude together on a shoestring budget, we are having a total blast. Watching some of the footage over a nice "family" meal together last week was just the most beautiful experience. I am so fortunate to call these magnificent humans and co-creators friends... We're creating something really special here and cannot wait to share the final product with each and every one of you.

I'm wiped out and full of all the feels... which means that I could ramble on indefinitely at this point. In the name of wrapping things up for the night... here are a few stills from our first official week "in production".

Stay tuned for more updates as we keep climbing this big old mountain of ours!

Ever grateful.
