Wholesome Foods, I Love You... Is That OK? is a romantic comedy about Julia, a lovably neurotic yoga teacher who, after surviving a few incredibly rough years, stumbles upon her one true love: Wholesome Foods Market. Unable to bear the thought of a life devoid of raw sprouted nuts, paleo treats, and organic non-GMO spicy jalapeño kale chips, Julia takes a leap of faith and decides to stay, making the store her new home away from home.
As her obsession with the market grows, she plans daily trips there, bonding with her favorite store employees, giving advice to customers, and thoughtfully exploring what she likes to call "The Seven Wonders of the Secret Spice World". She makes herself even more at home by practicing yoga in the middle of the beauty section.
When she suddenly finds herself face-to-face with a cute guy named Marko in the snack aisle, everyone, including Julia's roommates and the eccentric former-Harvard-badminton-pro-turned-hip-hop-artist named Cartwright, begins to wonder if maybe there isn't more than "one true love" in Julia's life.
This project was inspired by creator Krista Hovsepian's own lifelong quest for optimal health – and eventually the health of her friends, family, and clients, too.
Krista's mom started taking her to see alternative health practitioners, healers, energy workers, and nutrition experts when Krista was just a tiny baby. In her late teens, Krista transitioned from being a competitive synchronized swimmer to becoming a full-fledged yogini & "lady who lifts".
An actress since her toddler years, she found her way into film school and went on to get her MA, focusing on the anthropology of eating and movement. She also completed her nutrition coach certification while writing this very series!
She quite honestly does visit her favourite organic supermarkets every day, and while she's never done yoga in the aisles IRL, she's definitely had some deeply moving conversations over brussels sprouts, butter coffee, and $22 organic house-made guacamole. In short, this series is her life. We hope you find it as hilarious as we do!
Earlier this year, we formed our very own production team and decided that we would direct the series collaboratively. Krista, Daniel, Samara, Jenny, and Chris will each be jumping behind the camera to direct an episode or two, while incredibly talented pros like Cailleah and Graeme Blyth will be taking the reins on the larger ensemble episodes.
We're extremely fortunate to have Bojan Nedic on board as our Director of Photography, and a stellar crew who'll be supporting us throughout our 10-day shoot.
We’re not just looking for “dollas” here. We want you to join our tribe, be a part of our journey, our storyline, and eventually our finished series.
One of the biggest challenges we’re facing with this series are basic costs involved in producing something of this scale. We, as actors, producers, and creators are not only volunteering our time to bring this story to life, but we believe in this project so much that we are putting our own money on the table.
That being said, we do need your help to make it shine! The funds we raise will go towards equipment rentals, location fees, professional crew members, and post-production fees like editing, colour correction, and sound mixing. With your generous help and support, we’ll be able to create the best possible product, and boy are we confident that we can seriously knock your eco-friendly earthing socks off!
Bonus: If you love charts, graphs, and data as much as Krista does, then voilà!

Risks and challenges
It's 2017. It's time. It's time to create, tell, share, promote, and VALUE stories about and created by multi-dimensional women, while supporting the rad-ass men in our lives and on our teams.
The old paradigm was all about playing it safe. Traditional media platforms just didn't create space for unconventional stories or niche content. Thankfully, things have shifted. Digital media has proven time and time again (mostly with the success of webseries that were made possible by crowdfunding and grassroots marketing efforts) that audiences are hungry for something new that represents their unique interests.
We are beyond committed to putting together the absolute best project possible. But let's get real for a moment; this industry of ours is a tough one. Let's face it - with each new project, rocky roads abound. We're making art, not talking mathematical equations here! If production snafus crop up, we could potentially face a later release date (read: you, our lovely, amazing backers, would have to tune in later than planned).
Because we've got decades of professional experience in all areas of production, we're feeling rock solid about navigating any and all detours so that we stay on track, on budget, and on time. Most importantly, we want to stay true to YOU by delivering one stellar series from the very bottom of our great big organic-loving, om-chanting, comedy-loving hearts.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
