Krimby Tales - A Christmas Short Film (Canceled)
Half-Animated 100% Satiric Holiday Comedy. A demanding customer asks for the perfect Xmas story. What she gets: Three Krimby Tales!
An Interdisciplinary Artistic Extravaganza
Hadfield wrote the story as a stage play. It was read aloud Dec. 2015 on The Last Hurrah variety show & podcast. However, the Krimby Tales were not yet finished shape-shifting. Mr. Kevin Cole, (see 'Who?') intuited the Tales' true form. “I think it would make a pretty cool holiday shortfilm. Maybe look into having the stories animated in various fashions. I don't know,”spake the Kev. His excitement was palpable. Emails! Abra Kadabra! Wheedling! Wrangling! Presto! Magic! Krimby! With one talented animator on board, and a professional production company willing to play, the necessary team members soon fell under the Krimby spell. Scrawled snark from once upon a time transfigured into an interdisciplinary artistic extravaganza which we encourage you to support today. Krimby Tales.
Cambria, a well-heeled, high-maintenance customer, asks Alice the bookseller for a holiday gift recommendation. When no answer will satisfy, Alice seeks the advice of Ms. Snaggle. Alice leads Cambria through labyrinthine back passages to the office, or perhaps, lair of Ms. Snaggle, an eccentric storyteller who lives in the bookstore basement. Snaggle's three holiday stories are in turns sardonic, absurd and rhyming!
- The Tale of the KrimbyBeast
- The Tale of Lord Kringlejaws
- The Tale of Krunk Kringle.
(All the Tales are will be narrated by Snaggle & illustrated through imaginative animations) Will Cambria find the gift she needs in Snaggle's stories? Will you?
Krimby Tales is a secular take on the trappings and traps of materialistic holiday observance. Nothing in this project deals specifically with religion or the Christmas story.
This a key element to bringing the Krimby Tales within the Krimby Tale to life. Once shooting is complete, audio of Snaggle's Krimby Tales will be sent to Stephen Sues and David Luna. This is where the bulk funds are being sent so these two can hunker down and focus on telling the tales. Above you can see Stephen Sues' Nutkraken animation, a small portion of his work found on CowWolf. Below is David Luna's Animal's Fighting Trailer, he's done a large amount of artwork for The Annual and is a founder of the Something Art Coalition. Together, they can really bring the Krimby Tales to life in ways we mere mortals could never imagine.
“How, prithee, but how?!”
Do you want to see Krimby Tales? You can make it happen! This project needs to be 100% crowdfunded. We are ardently grateful for any contribution you make. What will we use your money for? Mostly to pay animators, actors, crew and Honeytoad, with a tiny slice for costume and props. Why is “so much” of the budget devoted to the animators? Because animation takes the most time, our team are professionals, and we strive to pay them at industry standards.
Full Disclosure: Neither Lydia Hadfield nor Kevin Cole will make a cent from this endeavor. They just want to pay their collaborators fairly for their hard work, and make Krimby Tales into a short film

Why?...or “Why Give KrimbyTales My Hard-earned Currency?”
- You want to see funny, original holiday satire created by a stellar collective of artists
- The rewards for backers further inspire you to make sure the hard work that goes into the movie is rewarded. A KrimbyBeast ornament? A Krimby Tales book with five extra gloriously silly and sardonic tales? Will your curiosity about the Krimby one-liners get the better of you? Give in! Tis the season! ...Or t'will be soon enough.
- Vapid materialistic crap annoys you. This project sparks that axe you were ready to grind.
- You have far too much currency and must simply give us some. Everyone can see that greenish rime around your mouth. Surely there's a better way to get rid of spare dollars than dipping them in ranch dressing and eating them like crudit. Don't talk to me about fiber; ingesting that much ink can't be good for you.
- Spite. You hate that other Kickstarter enough to back us.
- Mercy. You've seen the haunted look in [team member's] eyes as s/h/z/e serves you your [fill in the blank]. Fund this project so they can make money doing what they love, excel at, and have been trained to do.
- Ennui...Eh, why not? You've got a dollar. We're all going to die, anyway.
When?...or “This a Krimby Thing and Isn't It Currently Spring?”
We will have Krimby Tales finished and ready to show by December 2016. We are shooting the live-action sequences AS THIS KICKSTARTER IS HAPPENING!
Production updates are either up or forthcoming!
Where? And how can I see it?
Backers with DVD rewards will see the film first! Later, in December we will hold a Grand Screening at a Frederick, Maryland venue (TBD) one or multiple nights. Even later in December, we will make the film available to view on Vimeo, for all to see.

Risks and challenges
We're filming NOW...Maybe even as you read this!
The live-action sequences will be shot during the Kickstarter funding period.
A talented team of folks has already committed to making this project a reality.
We hope that you will feel inspired and create the other half of the commitment we need.
We want to be able to pay our actors and camera crew for the hard work they've already put into the project. Plus we'd like to garner the funds so the animators can get started with the certain knowledge of compensation. Of course, we also must pay the Honey Toad editing crew for helping us make a polished, snazzy Krimby Tales short film.
Please show your support, so we can deliver the wonder of Krimby Tales to you---and compensate our team for the parts they'll play.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
