About this project
Cracked is a puzzle adventure game in development for touch screen devices, including iPad, iPhone, and Android. The first game developed by Lightborne Lore, the game is slated for release late 2010.

Lightborne Lore is a team of 6 students attending Ohio University. Though most of us have worked together on many school projects, we all share a desire to create our own rules, our own worlds. Out of this desire, Cracked was born.

For most people, high school hallways evoke coming of age, first forays into relationships, and the nebulous early stages of choosing what you want to do for the rest of your life. For Gavin Pike IV, the walls of Harvest Park High School contain nothing but reminders of a turbulent past.
Growing up, Gavin wanted for nothing material. His father's occupation kept the family living in style. But at any moment, he would have gladly given it all away for a family life that didn't include global moves every six months, a rarely present father, and an over-stressed mother. Gavin grew up fast, learning to take care of himself and appreciate his parents when they had time for him. Life, though far from perfect, was bearable. Then, the summer before Gavin was to enter his senior year of high school, his father went missing.
Gavin Pike III was a master thief. An expert burglar. A charming doublecrosser that would discover you, distract you, and rob you blind...IF he was paid to do so. His off-the-job personality, though retaining the same charm and thirst for adventure, was honest and caring. When he was home, he was a great father and an inspiring mentor. With no clues as to his whereabouts, and not even trace amounts of a trail to follow, the authorities ruled his disappearance as an unsolvable circumstance. It was just "one of those things." Mr. Pike's son and wife moved that summer, picking up their life once more and dropping it in Harvest Park.
Gavin IV started school at Harvest Park High that fall, but it was far from a fresh start. His father attended the same school back when he was Gavin's age, and Mr. Pike certainly left his mark on the institution.
During his sophomore year a fire claimed the lives of seven students and destroyed half of the school. The school was rebuilt in time for Gavin III's senior year, and the budding young thief returned to its rooms with a strange sense of determination. His teachers blamed his newfound reclusive nature on the fact that many of the students claimed by the fire were his close friends, but they would never know the truth. The fire was not an accident, and Gavin III was the only survivor of a coverup.
Now, thanks to clues left by his father, Gavin IV is hot on the trail of discovering what really happened to the school 30 years ago. The player will control the apprentice thief as he roams the halls cracking combinations and picking locks. The touchscreen will be utilized for movement and manipulation of objects, but in this first installment of the Cracked series the player will have to use the accelerometer and audio cues to bypass locks and solve puzzles.
In future episodes, Gavin will find himself graduated from high school, and moving on to high security facilities with locks as cryptic as the secrets they keep. Security cameras, laser grids, heat and pressure sensitive rooms - gameplay involving systems such as these fits perfectly with the iPad and other touch screen devices. We are indescribably excited to bring this gameplay to our players, but we need your help to make it happen!
We have been designing, discussing, thinking, living, and breathing Cracked all summer, and expect to have it ready for a fall release, but without a few very important things it simply won't happen. Mainly, we need software, development licenses, and hardware for testing purposes.
$3,000 is a somewhat low figure, but it is the bare minimum we need to make this game happen. Anything over our goal will help bring the game to completion faster, and with more features, but without at least hitting our goal, we won't be able deliver the safe-cracking, lock-picking, super-sleuthing game we've already poured so much of our hearts into.
